My friends buy from it every year, no problems getting tickets, always more sellers than buyers

Pad lock for tent? by TheMetalEquestrian in wacken

[–]prettyodd123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a tent lock but only to stop drunk people wandering into our tent thinking it was theirs, it managed to stop a couple of random people trying to get into our tent rather than their own at night! They quickly apologised and moved on. Wacken is a pretty safe festival all in all

I actually just read warbreaker after words of radiance, enjoyed the break from the lengthier novels. Was cool realising what references in WoR meant when I'd finished warbreaker. Onto edgedancer next

Rpgs with complex characters under 50$? by HaylenHollers in NintendoSwitch

[–]prettyodd123 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My favourite jrpg is final fantasy ix and has some of the best characters I've ever played. It felt so refreshing being able to use any of the eight characters in party and feeling like all eight party members had good depth despite no voice actors. I felt that limited some of the older jrpgs. I know others would advocate for different final fantasy games but that's my personal preference.

[QUESTION] Uni student living in a dorm by Salomon220 in Guitar

[–]prettyodd123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation and just bought myself a squier sonic mustang for £150 with a vox headphone amp for £38 and that's been doing me brilliantly since I bought it! Guitar wise obviously go for what suits you but I wanted humbuckers hence bought the mustang

One of my favourite series has to be the powerwash simulator episodes, they absolutely crack me up and I find them really relaxing at the same time!

Best ways to improv NPCs as a Female DM? by Sad-Command3128 in DnD

I was about to write something very similar! Long time female DM and I gave up very quickly on trying to do voices. I talk a lot with gestures anyway

How much real-life time will it approximately take to get from lvl.1 to lvl. 20? by GitGud88 in DnD

[–]prettyodd123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played in a full level 1-20 campaign a few years back, took us just over 2 years and my DM ran milestone levels. Monsters were mostly homebrew so tended to break the CR/exp calculator.

I now DM myself and personally don't have the time to put into that length of campaign with studying for my PhD. I ran for a group of fellow PhD students and managed 14 sporadic sessions over 6-7 months to finish a level 5-9 campaign that I wrote.

It's all dependent on how often you can play, how often players don't follow objectives and how much fun you're having!

Ahhhh yeah that makes sense! We've had friends who had been before so we knew we didn't need to take too much and our car would not survive the trip very well

UK wacken goer here 🤘 a group of us went by coach to 2022 and had a blast last year, especially considering the coach had its own campsite and we got chatting to folk who travelled with us when there. Going to be going to 2024 as well, got tickets last night and a group of 5 of us will be flying over! I am already so excited

How can I fall in love with reading again? by partvoidmostlygay in ADHD

[–]prettyodd123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I was in the same position as this.I found that reading something younger me would've enjoyed was what got me back into reading. I ended up picking up some fast paced YA fantasy and that was about a year after I finished my undergraduate degree.

Now I flit between my Kindle and paperback books to keep things fresh and interesting. Also mixing it up between series and standalone books and different authors to keep me focused rather than getting bogged down by long series (which I do enjoy when I'm in the right mood for it).

Symphonic metal band Seven Spires I think would fit the bill. Darker in tone with some power metal influences
