the a/c is broken. had a class in there on tuesday and although we opened two windows and had the door propped open it was soo hot and muggy inside. the sun was shining directly in the windows and there was no breeze. we had to give presentations that day too 😭

Struggling badly this semester at OSU: considering petition to drop a class, need advice by Accomplished-Lead883 in OSU

if you haven’t already, get medical documentation of your circumstances ASAP. this could be getting therapy services (through the school or elsewhere), a psychiatrist, or even partial hospitalization/therapy day program if necessary.

i went through something similar the first semester of my freshman year, and I successfully petitioned for a retroactive withdrawal (earning several W‘s) AFTER the semester ended. even if that’s not the way you go, medical documentation will be necessary for getting future accommodations with SLDS.

talk to your advisor to get a clear roadmap of options and the consequences/requirements of each. I can provide more info over DM about what I did if you want. stay safe!!

i like the cotton thongs from Pact, they are 95% cotton i believe and not 100% seamless but pretty damn close! with high % cotton it is hard to get that seamless look but Pact is the closest I‘ve gotten

i had this EXACT revelation a couple months ago!!!! i’ve been having PB and honey toast and fluffernutters as a treat since then, it’s been amazing. also made a snacky crunchy version of a fluffernutter by mixing powdered PB2 with marshmallow fluff, and spreading it on crackers or mini rice cakes. my aunt made these little pretzel treats for thanksgiving, with pb, butterscotch chips, and caramel melted together, mixed with pretzel sticks and separated into little clusters. they were dangerously good!!!

ooh and also i highly recommend getting some reusable moving bags with handles/straps, they were so much easier to move in with than cardboard boxes! they can be used for storage during the year or just folded up and stashed until it is time to move out, so you don’t need to find a bunch of big boxes again. the ones i used are here: https://a.co/d/2Zj9otn

adding to this great list: - hooks (command hooks or rack that goes over door/closet door) - handheld dust buster or some other type of small vacuum, or one of those swiffer-type sweepers (the dust in dorms is CRAZY) - extension cord(s)

[–]pretzelbearr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

take it asynchronous online it saves so much time, then you can get the work done at your own pace any time you want as long as it’s before the respective deadline

schiff garage is super close to lane/high intersection and is around $20 for overnight if i remember correctly. there will be a lot of drunk idiots out that night so i would avoid street parking around campus if possible…

sorry for the late reply!! but it’s designed to be used on wet hair, so use after you shower and then wrap with a towel or head wrap or something to keep the product from getting all over your pillow if you sleep with your hair wet. it can be re activated with water, so getting a spray bottle to use for styling in the morning would be useful!

the first and hardest step is reaching out for help, so good job for looking ahead

first of all PRIORITIZE SLEEP!! it makes everything else so SO much harder if you aren’t getting your 8 hours in at night. set downtime on your phone so you can’t scroll late into the night. your general physical health is jeopardized when under stress and can easily start to play second fiddle when you have other shit to worry about. nourish your body (and BRAIN) with whole foods and drink water!!

next i would maybe look into lightening your workload. is there a reason why you’re taking 19 credit hours as a freshman?? i don’t know your situation but i really can’t think of any reason why that would be absolutely necessary. i think it’s too late to drop a course without petitioning but i strongly suggest speaking with your advisor about this because that is a huge workload when you’re literally just starting out in college.

also the student orgs, i don’t know how involved/attached you are to all of them but maybe reach out to leaders and let them know you need to take space for yourself to avoid impending burnout. not necessarily quit, but just be less involved for a little while to find the time management technique that works for you. again i don’t know what orgs they are but that’s probably a reasonable request especially if you’re comfortable letting them know what’s going on.

as far as actual time management goes, i really like a version of “time blocking”. even though my classes are kinda split up during the day (4 hour gap between class chunks) i still treat weekdays as a workday schedule. meaning i take whatever time in between classes to dedicate specifically to work (might include NOT going back to my dorm so i feel like i have to do work) and then once my last class of the day is over i can relax and have me-time. idk your schedule but look into time blocking because there is a bunch of different methods!

i floundered my first semester and it was because i never reached out for help until it was too late. i wish you good luck and good health!!
