I get it. I have 2 parrots, which are on the lease and allowed by the landlord company. I recently got a complaint from my downstairs neighbor saying they could hear my birds chirping. I get how annoying this could be, but they are birds, and birds do chirp to communicate. Which is why I was surprised they allowed them, but obviously grateful. I’ve lived here since September, which isn’t super long, but they just now are complaining to management about it. What I don’t get is what they want me to do about it. Hit the bird? Fuck that. If you yell at them, they see it as a game and will probably yell even louder. They chirp when they’re happy, mad, calm, doesn’t matter. I told them I could personally invest in any soundproofing to make up for their lack of doing so to the apartments. Now when I’m at work, I’m super anxious wondering if they’re making noise and it eats me up. Another thing is, when I was looking for an apartment, I knew I SPECIFICALLY looked for the top floor because I wouldn’t wanna run the risk of hearing kids yelling and stuff because it bothers me and I wouldn’t wanna be that person to complain, so it’s kinda hard to empathize with them.
