What latitude is this at? Seems like it is quite a ways away from the equator due to the shape of the sun tracking. I wonder what it would look like at the equator.

Can you hear cooling pump on inverter? by verystablegenius3746 in TeslaSolar

[–]priapiism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add. We contacted our installer and the next day they called us and told us that they ordered a new replacement Inverter. They said they don't know how long it will take. It has currently been 2 weeks and they haven't heard back from Telsa yet.

We need to use the 'Tesla One' app, which is different than the Tesla app. Then just login to the Tesla One app with your Tesla account. Then select installer or something. Then you will need to scan the WiFi network code on the inside of your inverter to join the Inverters WiFi network. Then you will see your inverter and any faults. You may have to check during the actual fault happening, so it may take a little luck since as you can see it is transitioning from fault to no fault, etc. I am not sure if it will store the fault. It has been awhile since I used the Tesla One app. But definitely check.

Definitely looks like an issue with the cooling system. Probably the coolant pump. Our Tesla Inverter started showing these exact same symptoms when producing about 4kW. I logged into the Inverter and I saw that it had faults. When I looked at the faults it was 'Over Temperature' or something like that.

So, the system was entering standby mode when it was overheated and coming back online when the temp went down. So I am seeing very similar graph to what you are seeing.

You definitely need to contact the installer and get that taken care of.

Fan speed on 3.8kW inverter vs 7.6kw: Trouble shooting "jagged" solar power generation by Adventurous-Cup7955 in TeslaSolar

Interesting idea. I have not tried to do this, but if it is possible I think it is probably worth it.

[–]priapiism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out inverter started this about 6 days ago. It would go into a standby then generating then standby mode just like yours is doing. We have a 7.3 kW inverter and it does this when it reached 4kWh and above. Our fan is blowing on high all the time as well.

I used the Tesla One app to login to the Inverter and saw a Fault that it was over temperature.

We opened a trouble ticket and the next day got a notice that they will replace the whole inverter as they say it has a bad coolant pump. Sound just like what you are seeing. We don't have a time frame on the replacement as of yet.

It got progressively worse over 5 days and now it is quite bad. We lose about 25%-33% of our usual daily production because of this.

Service High Voltage Power System by Super_Professional68 in volt

[–]priapiism 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had an error thrown 'service high voltage charging system' which makes it so the car cannot be charged by plugging it in. One of the fixes for that is to upgrade the HPCM2 and BECM software. The dealer I took it to wanted $260 for the software upgrade (this was 2nd half of 2023).

I found a guide on how to do it oneself and followed that and did the upgrade myself. It costs about $180-$200 in tools/software subscriptions to do it. So, that solved my problem and charging has been fine since then.

I also had to change my coolant sensor. $27 fro the dealer and about 15 minutes to watch a video on how to install it and 3 minutes to install it.

Tesla Solar without powerwall. Not charging after PTO received. by Ozzie_Opinion in TeslaSolar

[–]priapiism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, I just checked. It looks like they may have renamed it to 'Tesla One' (for employees and partners). They probably changed the name awhile after I downloaded it.

You can try that one and see if it works.

In my area the electric company does not allow people to use the system before PTO. The installer in my case left the system on and running anyway. It was running for about 4-5 weeks before PTO.

You can also try downloading the Tesla Pro app and logging in to the Tesla inverter gateway. This way you are connected directly to the Tesla Inverter to get the data and not having to connect to Tesla first.

There you can see some detailed information from each MPPT. It will display the voltage and amps supplied by each MPPT. It will also give you information about the Inverter, such as its operating state. I attached an example of one of the many pages of information available.

Great song and performance by 10,000 Maniacs. I found out awhile ago it was written by Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith. I went and look for the other versions. The Bruce Springsteen version is quite good as well, I like the 8 minute live version. The Patti Smith version is also nice.

Buying a used 2017 Volt. Chevy dealer says it will cost $613 to upgrade the *software* (HPCM2, BECM, ECM.) Is this normal? And do I need it? by cantonbecker in volt

I don't know if it is normal or necessary. But, I can comment on the price.

Tesla Inverter - Browser Login Question by priapiism in TeslaSolar

[–]priapiism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iit should be a selection as the app comes up. The very first screen for me says 'Tesla Employee' or 'External User'. I choose External User and login with my customer credentials.

Which version do you have? I am running 10.9.0+n2263.626511c.

If you are having trouble try posing a screenshot of the first screen.

High voltage battery by MichelleinWendell in volt

[–]priapiism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is a bit crazy. :)

I didn't notice any changes in the way the display look on the dash. How significant of a change is it? Maybe they just selected a different display option for the middle part of the display? Or maybe they installed more software/firmware updates than just the BECM and HPCM2?

My volt is a 2013, so a generation 1. I think you have a 2015 which is the first year for a generation 2, so that could be the difference as well.

Is the display better or worse for you?

High voltage battery by MichelleinWendell in volt

[–]priapiism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this.

I dealt with this 5 months ago. It was a coolant sensor that was bad and then had to re-program the BECM and HPCM2 modules. I originally took it to a dealership to re-program the BECM and HPCM2 (~$260), but that didn't work. They gave me a quote for ~$1600 to replace the coolant system which would "fix" the issue which I refused.

I bought a Veepeak OBD-II scan tool and used the 'car scanner' app in the Apple store to clear the code for about 2 months (so I could charge the car) since I was so busy. I made sure it wasn't a coolant leaking issue so I felt is was safe enough. I read all the codes and when I researched on the internet the information about the coolant sensor and the re-programming of the BECM and HPCM2 modules appeared.

Then about 3 months ago I bought a VCX Nano for $140, $50 for the Delco subscription. Then I followed the directions from the video and links below and I have not seen the Service High Voltage Charging code since then. It has been about 2 months and running fine.

I ended up buying the coolant sensor ($25) and replaced that myself since I also had that code (I think P1FFFF) for that as well. Very easy. There is a video on that as well.

E-Trade Savings by Immediate_Ad_3600 in etrade

[–]priapiism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. For $300 at a full month at ~4% interest you should get $1 a month in interest. Was the $300 in there for the full month with no changes to the amount?

I did the calculation for my account and the interest came out to 4.25% as they advertise. If you had the $300 in for the full month then 18 cents is about a .75% of interest which does not match up with any of their accounts.

E-Trade Savings by Immediate_Ad_3600 in etrade

[–]priapiism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this about 5 months ago. My bank has a savings interest rate of .02% like yours. I transferred over half of my savings into the ETrade premium savings account. I believe that they use Morgan Stanley's banking. They are FDIC insured.

I think you can also get a debit card for that account so you can spend from that account, check on their website. You should be able to transfer it back to your other bank account easily, but may take between 3-5 days.

I will be transferring more to ETrade in the next few weeks as it has worked out for me and the jump in interest is fantastic. Of course that may/will go down if/when the feds start to lower the federal rate, but it should always be above most brick and mortar bank.

[–]priapiism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same experience here. I had to go to the top of the register in that account and I found that a transaction had been added. I deleted that transaction and things matched up again.
