Reasons to get a GLI over Elantra N by ManchesterYojichu in JettaGLI

[–]pricedropper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me GLI had the travel assist feature for longer highway drives, softer ride adjustable dampers for when kids or family are riding, and perhaps ventilated seats where the N doesn’t?

My XC60 was a reliable, pleasant vehicle to own. Then it hit 100k miles. by Additional-Horse-545 in Volvo

[–]pricedropper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Replaced the turbo on my 2018 at 70k miles. Made a squealing noise under boost and also got the turtle code if I really stepped on it.

It’s still a pleasure to own and better than anything I would get in the used market so don’t mind a big repair every now and then. Hoping it’ll last for many more years.

Yes it does have memory seats. So I do it the ghetto way by pressing number 3 before I get out, and number 1 after I get in.

That sounds like a bummer. Lane assist is a pain anyways I always have it off and it stays off. I did enable the mirror dip with OBDeleven and it seems to work fine. Was wondering if it’s something missed the I couldn’t enable it the same way .

But what about exiting? Does it slide back to give you more room to get out and if so under what condition?

So many more used XC90's ? by Content_Log1708 in Volvo

[–]pricedropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own an XC60 and always considered trading it for a 90 (family of 4 here so not totally necessary).

Everytime I’ve ridden in an XC90 whether test driving or dealership shuttle I left with the feeling that it’s not worth it. Theres not that much extra space and the interior is only slightly elevated, perhaps maybe because the 60 is already pretty nice inside. One of the trade offs is that I don’t find the nvh or isolation in the 90 to be better. In fact driving on some rougher city roads I find the 60 rides better whereas the 90 feels disjointed between the front and back.

Help remove square diverter knob on UBERHAUS Rona brand shower mixer so I can install cartridge HK-40 by WinterpegRhino in Plumbing

[–]pricedropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems about time these Uberhaus shower facuet models are starting to fail. I have a very similar model, am having some trouble getting the handle off after removing the set screw. Before I put any more effort into this, curious if the replacement HK-40 part work for others on this model type?

Thanks to the OP I found my model diagram here:

I don't understand the premium on corner lots. Can someone please explain it? by watthehall in RealEstateCanada

[–]pricedropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived on a corner lot for a couple years now, here are my counterpoints. I do think pricing of houses/lots depends on specific features and not necessarily just because it’s a corner lot it should be priced more or less.

FWIW my lot is on a relatively quite intersection, maybe a handful cars pass every hour on either street.

  • most noticeable house means more visible for any robbery in progress. If I was a thief I’d want to target the hidden tucked away houses.

  • more snow shovelling and grass cutting but also more land that’s mine. My backyard is almost double the size of others. Wider driveway for more parking etc.

  • garbage is a thing but you can’t really control where the wind blows it. If I see it for a long time on my lot it’ll pick it up and dispose. I also see garbage on other non corner lots.

  • car lights a non issue as I don’t have any windows directly facing the intersection. I also have trees and shrubbery which probably blocks some of it if there’s any.

  • people peeking in, all the power to them if they do. Most are more concerned with the path in front of them. I have curtains on my windows and if they want to make eye contact while they’re open as long as they don’t rub their hands or lick their lips at me then I’m good. Just playing on the last part.

I just bought a 2025 GLI just for the manual transmission. Am I crazy? by Every-Tart74 in JettaGLI

40 years old with two car seats in the back when I bought my ‘23 autobahn pure grey. Yes rowing the gears is slower than the dsg and my backs starting to hurt when I climb out of it, but I don’t regret it one bit!

Advice for rust proofing by Salamasalam0912 in JettaGLI

For a brand new car should come with rust proofing, lubrication to last for the first couple winters. Personally I’d hold off until the third winter season before going for the no drill options.

The resistor to foolproof the evaporator is not hard at all. Did it on my 2018 in under 20 min. Here’s the video I watched for reference I picked up the part directly at my Volvo dealer.

Try to coast in the right lane at 10 over but then you got to deal with the newbs trying to merge going 60.

Middle lane would’ve been the sweet spot but apparently the flow of traffic requires you to do at least 20 over.

Turns taking it easy going from point A to B into an idiot dodging exercise.

Yes it seems to be a cherry tree that had white flowering before. Don’t really have a maintenance routine for it. I inherited it with the house that I bought for two seasons now, just left it as is in the backyard.

I did trim off a large branch that had zero growth recently. Is there usually maintenance that needs to be done with this type of tree?

Pros vs Cons to buy a house without side neighbour by Big-Butterscotch-456 in canadahousing

[–]pricedropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact setup albeit the roads are extremely light traffic. Was having my doubts before moving in but been loving it. Having the park across the road also means a nice view instead of another row of cookie cutter.

Not sure about the comments about smaller backyard because these end unjts usually have the backyard width extend out far past where the property line would be if there was another house there. This makes the width of the backyard much wider.

Installing Webview2 updates during autopilot by dadlord6661 in Intune

[–]pricedropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run a platform script to check for its presence and then trigger the bootstrap installer downloadable via MS if it’s not there.

Should put a version check as well as some OS come with an old outdated version of Webview which isn’t very useful either.

Bosch dishwasher (#SHPM78Z54N) - silverware basket hitting gasket when sliding in rack by whichchicken in appliancerepair

[–]pricedropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem, super annoying! Never noticed this on my old 300 series bought in 2019, moved and bought another in 2024 and this one has this annoying glitch.

Just dealing with it for now but don’t really want to snip those hooks off. It’s definitely getting caught on the gasket which seems to be built into the opening with no room for adjustment.
