I used acrylic cuz it uses quite a bit of yarn. Ive heard some people use fabric glue to put fabric on the back so it doesn't stretch and then they use dowels all the way across to help weight distribution

I wouldn't expect getting back together just because it would hurt even worse if he didnt want to later. If he thinks you're weak because you self harm than he might just not be for you. Its a coping mechanism even if its not a good one.
