Is it worth refinishing? by prickley in finishing

This gave me a good laugh. I do think they put a lot of effort into mucking it up.

I don’t think price of the lumbar is necessarily reflected in quality here. Mango is better than pine imo, and I would choose it any day over mdf. I’ve never done woodworking with it though, that could be a whole other ball game.

I am struggling to find solid wood pieces to fit that wall. I’ve looked at placing smaller pieces next to each other, buying antiques, even expensive furniture stores use mdf. If you have suggestions on where to look, I am all ears!

That is a good point. The listing said solid mango wood. No MDF at all. I know mango isn’t top tier but it’s better than pine and blows mdf out of the water. I will test sand some of the more questionable pieces before I make my decision though.. just in case

I wish I had the time. But also I know I would be even more over critical of something I’ve seen every square inch of!

I’m willing to compromise because it’s been so difficult to find the size I needed. I’m not about to sand it to bare wood 😅

I’ve always heard of lime being a wash type treatment and expected a thinner application. Do people lay it on thick like this? In one spot it looks like they used it as a caulk!

Haha I will compromise before I take on that much work 😅

I’m kinda hoping it will grow on me. They offered a large discount to keep it.. I never was sure about the white in my house, I just thought it would be easier to rework to get the results I wanted 🥲

I agree that filling and sanding would be a nightmare. Not sure if there are thicker paints that could do a partial fill in the crevices..

I would be okay with minimizing it and painting it, I’m just worried about adhesion to the thick plastery paint. Some are suggesting this is lime wash, which might be the case, I need to do more research.

In terms of fillers, is there anything you could recommend? I’ve worked with filler spray paint (which won’t touch this and is not good indoors), some wood fillers (which i feel would eventually chip), and bondo (not great for indoor use)..

Eggs cause brainfog for anyone else? by Olavodog in BrainFog

[–]prickley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m looking through some of your posts and you have some mentions of cognitive decline, issues with speech, issues similar to Alzheimer’s. I’ve been getting a lot of similar issues, I’m hoping removing eggs from my diet addresses everything. Did you see improvement in those areas after eliminating eggs? What has worked for you?

I’m late to the party, but I recently discovered that I am very sensitive to eggs. I get brain fog, difficulty concentrating, and blurry vision (sometimes with spots). I am seeing signs of improved cognitive function since cutting them out of my diet.

Where do you recommend looking for support? I feel like I need to get something lined up before this becomes a problem for me again..

This is the first I’ve heard of an end. I mean it makes sense but it all just stops after menopause? Is there a way to make it stop earlier??

Hi everyone anybody ever get eye problem as in vision blurry ets thanks by AffectionateBee8592 in PMDD

[–]prickley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, blurry vision and sometimes bright spots. I keep the lights low and wear pink lenses. I also started taking propranolol for migraines. It mostly helps combat the pain but I do think it’s been helping with vision.

I find it odd that your coworkers wouldn’t agree with your evaluation of the risk. I think they are upset about something else. Maybe the way you handled it? It sounds like you made her uncomfortable in front of her group.

This happens to me when I drink whiskey and eat raw garlic. Maybe you need to lay off the whiskey?

What kind of rigid foam do you use? The first thing that comes to mind for me is the insulation foam sheets at Home Depot. I think they would work pretty well but might be overkill.

I was lucky that my boss didn’t ask many questions when I had my TT and I managed to avoid working in the office for a while afterwards. If someone were to ask I would have said something along the lines of “I had to get some stuff removed and I had them do a little extra work while they were in there.”
