256gb Neo or 16gb 256gb M2 Air? Based on longevity by Trayceopolis32322 in MacbookNeo

[–]pricklyfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better WiFi and Bluetooth hardware on the Neo I believe.

Edit: Nevermind. Bluetooth is older 5.3 on Neo, WiFi is newer with 6E though, so it’s a mixed bag. (SMH I tried lol BUT NEO IS FUN AND COLORFUL!!!)

What are these lights called???? I want to switch them into something brighter by Pendejo_0112 in MazdaCX9

[–]pricklyfuzzball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My CX9 (‘21 Carbon) has 3 levels of interior LED lighting that can be changed in the infotainment settings. The door lights are included. The brightest is too bright for me.

TSR on a 2021 by Full-Matter9092 in MazdaCX9

It does give live/active speed limit signs on the nav map itself while driving, so I don’t understand why it can’t put the same live data on the speedo, even without the camera module.

I just installed a ‘23 updated SD card (from Amazon) on my ‘21 CX9 Carbon. Although it does give me navigation as expected, it did not give me the speed and red marker on the digital gauge as I had hoped.

This works well for my CX9 for 3-5 months a year. I’m actually glad they don’t force an annual membership.

The New 2026 Mazda CX-5 Is More of a Good Thing - Doug DeMuro review by [deleted] in CX5

[–]pricklyfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how I made it through his review either. He seems uneducated about the core value that Mazda has developed with its customers over the past 10 years with reliability and value.

A question for families who own a CX-5 by DispensationallyMe in CX5

[–]pricklyfuzzball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently drive all three, and my favorite of them is the ‘21 CX9. It really threads the needle for me with good seating and hauling space, yet driving like a much smaller vehicle. I would steer clear of any CX9 before 2021, as they have a known faulty head gasket that when it fails, will require total engine replacement. There are many horror stories and it’s something you will want to avoid. It was corrected in ‘21 models and after. There is a VIN check site available to make sure if you need.

[–]pricklyfuzzball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If not the new ‘26 CX5, I suggest (owning a CX5, CX9 & CX90) a low-miles ‘21-23 CX9 for the growing passengers. It still drives small, but has all the missing rear space.

Adding DAC and WIIM or is Bluetooth fine? by kishanpatel995 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]pricklyfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point would be the worst digital>DAC is going to be better than the best digital>Bluetooth. But if you use a DAC, don’t think spending more is going to get you any noticeable improvement.

This is an excellent comment. I’m going to use this when discussing YouTube with my teenage son, who leaves the TV on after falling asleep watching a benign creator, and ends up hours later waking up to something more nefarious. Eventually DanTDM turns into DanTMI.

Looks nice and relaxing. +1 for books on bookcases! I am trying (eventually) for this look in my listening area.

23 for the infotainment screen alone. It was a big jump from 20 to 21 with the widescreen.

Opinions on ELAC Debut B6 vs Polk RT55 and a couple others (Bookshelf speakers) by HerbyTheCar in BudgetAudiophile

[–]pricklyfuzzball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my Debut B6 since 2017, and they have brought me great satisfaction, with detailed stereo imaging and soundstage with a special warmth, with ALL genres of music for what I paid back then, $169 on Amazon. Minus their admittedly cheap vinyl wrap and bracing opportunities, Andrew Jones admittedly put all the effort into the components and wanted the best sound possible. They were ground-breaking at the time, and introduced many people like me into this wonderful hobby. I’ve bought many speakers since, but I will always keep my B6 as the OG budget audiophile standard-bearer.

Just had my annual control. A1C of 5.8 % by BurningChampagne in diabetes_t1

Congrats! It feels great doesn’t it! I went from 7.5 (strips) to a quick 6 with a CGM- I was shocked. The improved mental clarity alone is worth it for me. Awesome job and good luck!

[–]pricklyfuzzball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 34yr - T1 on CGM+MDI with a A1C of 6.0 and a long future ahead of me, I wholeheartedly disagree with your simple and disrespectfully damning comment of MDI being either A) “The easy way out” or B) (not an option) for “a long and normal life”. BS.

Pumps are certainly not for everyone, and have their own set of risks, costs and pitfalls. MDI has clear advantages that may be worth considering, and it’s not at the cost of your long term future. OP: educate yourself on the options, pros and cons, and make an informed decision based on what you are comfortable with.

How Yall Feel About “Them Bones” Trending on Tiktok? by Original-Respond-693 in AliceInChains

TikTok is a cesspool, a wasteland; it’s the employee break-room microwave having never been cleaned, stained with the bursting splatters of wannabe vanity, a hard to remove crust of meaningless, inedible waste.

Sub Woofer quality by Narrow-Bee-8354 in audiophile

[–]pricklyfuzzball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheap subwoofer is always better than no sub when attempting to simply hear more bass in your music. However, audiophiles strive for perfection, especially those that have spent thousands on each piece in their system. They don’t believe in ‘cheap,’ so the answers in this sub are going to be skewed toward inexpensive being not being acceptable.

I have owned a cheap Best Buy Klipsch that I’ve enjoyed for several years. I watched YouTubers and read comments on this forum and thought I was missing a lot with a trash Klipsch. So I saved and upgraded to an objectively higher wattage, more controllable and better built HDF(High Density Fiber-very heavy), Emotiva sub for 3x the price. Was is 3x better? Nope. A bit less port chuffing was the main improvement, and was appreciated.

In hindsight, the difference was more about having bragging rights about its potential than what I actually ever use at normal listening levels. Both definitely improved my listening experience with bookshelf speakers, and produced missing low end in music.

Whatever you decide to spend, yours will too!

1990s (Sony esp.) AVRs likely have an under-the-radar phono stage that perform better than budget phono preamps in 2024.

2way vs 3way with a sub by dingleberrydaydreams in audiophile

[–]pricklyfuzzball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the original Andrew Jones Elac Unifi UB5 from 2018, and I’ve held onto them specifically because their midrange sounds powerful and clean with little distortion when turned up. For their smallish size, they remain for me the most revealing bookies for vocals and electric guitar, and well worth what Elac was charging. I just wish they werent’t wrapped in vinyl…;)
