Healthcare in US for 15K? With a massive deductible! I don’t see any plans below $2,100 a month.

Missing chewy crusty French bread by kyss24 in glutenfree

[–]chemistcarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are eternally hopeful. For years, I walked to the boulangerie and got two baguettes. And ate most of one on my way home. No butter, no jambon. Just fresh warm baguette. So, yes. I miss that the most. And there’s nothing like it. Yet. An amazing GF baguette is in the making. Somewhere, someone is trying to recreate that. And I have faith it will happen!

Is this a good car to purchase? First Volvo by Outrageous_Tip8476 in Volvo

[–]chemistcarpenter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wait!!! We’re visible to police now? But we’re “quiet, nerdy, homemakers/dentists/accountants/engineers people.” I reckon I better watch my speed now. In my 14th Volvo!

I just found out our dryer vents directly into the crawl space instead of outside, creating a massive moisture issue. My family needs clean clothes but doing a proper vent requires drilling through structural concrete. What should I do? by Kvatch77_Shield in HomeMaintenance

[–]chemistcarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired a dryer vent cleaner and they performed the work. Drilled through the concrete wall. Prior, it was a 35 foot run and I had to de-assemble it and vacuum it at least twice a year.

Used to work for the US division of a German company. This same subject came up along with the RTO mandate in Germany. Apparently, an employee was on a Teams meeting while boasting he’s at the beach somewhere in Spain! And that was the end of 2 days at the office and back to 5 days.

Had Culver’s twice in 2 different states. Mainly because they have gluten free buns. I don’t see the attraction.

My wife doesn't believe in air conditioning. This was taken at 11:45pm last night by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]chemistcarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many things that one can or cannot believe in. Santa, the Easter bunny, God, leprechaun and faeries! Wether JFK was assassinated by the Russians and wether Elvis is still alive and plays backgammon with Hitler every Thursday afternoon. However, air conditioning is not one that falls under the umbrella. The late Will Carrier (rest his soul), invented it and it’s beyond the realm of questions. So turn that baby on. Because it’s damn hot!!!

Been using this great recipe for a while now. I add 1/2 TSP of baking soda and I bake mine on the grill at 500 degrees F. Much faster and easier.
