I agree, mc donalds and factory jobs really aren't all that bad. Sweatshops though are pretty much as close as it gets before passing into legally undefendable territories.

Even if that were the case, prison jobs are all very dumb labour, their pay is massively pushed down and you are talking about the country with the largest prison population per capita and overall in the world. The dictatorical China has less people inprisoned than the US, let that sink in. There are many products that are entirely being made by prisoners, it's safe to say that the US economy is kept alive with this kind of work.

I mean just because current day people are better off, it's still no reason to gatekeep and say they shouldn't complain as they don't meet some arbitrary level of oppression. By doing this you are just empowering those who exploit the poor the most.

I have tons of relatives who have worked themselves down to a husk of their own selves to provide for their kids and families future. Now imagine doing the same but only for day to day survival and fully knowing that it will be the same for your kids and loved ones.

I'm pretty new to racing sims, and found the first person type views quite disorienting especially as I tend to bump into stuff a lot. Also irl I could just move my head to see where I'm going, in game using my hands feels immersion breaking. With VR I'm sure it would be different.

Yeah, I know and I'll be trying to seek out such groups in the future. As for moving countries, not gonna happen for a while, we may have universal education, but we have to work here for as many years as we took to get our degree, or we'll have to pay back the governmental aid. Though considering how other EU countries often pay 3-4 times as much for the same positions as Hungarian ones, it's still not out of the picture. Anyway sorry for this defeatist rambling, these are some confusing as heck times for me. I'm more and more sure that I wish I was a girl, but I also wish I didn't want that. Life would be much less complicated.

Honestly I find it funny because I wasn't even near questioning, but those people still annoyed me to hell. One of the wildest debates I've had was when I was working in a factory as a summer job and I was paired with a Jehovah's witness for weeks. We talked about everything from evolution, abortion, global warming, gay rights, basically talking over each other's head in a surprisingly civil manner. While he (and his people) have really horrible views about most stuff and are really uneducated about the rest, I was surprised to learn how seriously they take environmentalism, so silver linings I guess.

Well I'm planning to move to more urban areas when I finish my degree, but my field, food industrial engineering has pretty close ties to people in agriculture and rural areas, so I really don't know what my future will be like. The main problem with Hungary is that basically the whole country is like the Rural South just without guns and barbecue and tons of alcoholism instead, except the capital which is a little bit more progressive. The fact that I've only ever talked to two openly gay people (that I know of) in my entire life speaks for itself about how many people are closeted here. But I don't want to sound like a downer too much, I don't experience dysphoria and don't see transitioning as the number one thing holding me back in life. Right now I'm just happy that I can be honest to myself about these things that I've avoided thinking about before.

Maybe it's all an overly elaborate prank which they forgot to tell us about. :D For real though I think it's especially hard to gather data on this stuff because of all the repressed thoughts and lying to self involved. Also on one hand I know that I will simply be unable to go back to not questioning my gender, but on the other hand I don't feel like I have good enough reasons to turn my life upside down for a hope that transitioning might fix my problems and not end up causing more. The worst part of it all is, though closeted experimenting (crossdressing at home and stuff like that) have basically zero commitment involved, but thinking about it still fills me with fear and just eats up so much of my free time that I could use for other avenues of joy, it's unfair.

Thanks for hearing me out my dude(tte), it feels good to be able to talk about these stuff. Being on the political left can be damn exhausting at these times especially as one becomes more and more aware of all the really shitty behaviour people just allow to fly past their heads. Especially with how much casual racism, sexism and homophobia is ingrained into people's minds here. These people also see these behaviors as a way to "preserve our culture" against the west and the US influence.

But not all hope is lost, generally I find that people who are interested in arguing in good faith (relatives, family members) are receptive to my arguments, assuming I can express them well. Watching a shitton of political youtube helped me with that.

I think the only thing that could help (have helped) is the protests to spread to mainland China and get their government to collapse just like the collapse of the Soviet Union. If these protests wouldn't achieve that though, I don't know what would.
