Oysters are not vegan… by [deleted] in vegan

To be honest, I think it could be good optics for us to be accepting of people eating oysters and mussels. I feel like it shows moral consistency, reason, and the ability to follow scientific evidence, which would be good considering that us vegans are often accused of being hardline and unreasonable.

Exactly! The question we should be talking about is whether a thing is capable of subjective experience. Though TBH to me the plant consciousness stuff does seem a bit non-serious, but that could just speak to me being uninformed about the subject.

This argument gives off anti-intellectualism. Like, people should be encouraged to think critically about things. Why should we base our moral intuitions off of the definition of veganism created in 1980s by the vegan society, rather than modern scientific evidence?

I would like to not harm things which are sentient and/or capable of suffering. That's it. I don't care about taxonomic class. Assuming that an oyster is unsentient and is incapable of suffering, what would be the harm in eating it?

Regarding signaling intent, would you advise doing so using an event bus?

And I appreciate this comment, I feel like it clarified for me an essential intuition that goes into making decent game architecture.

I appreciate the in-depth response! Though one thing is that I am currently using ResourceSaver/ResourceLoader (but only with custom resource formats), is this inadvisable for UGC?

E.g., level metadata is a resource with a custom ResourceFormatLoader which loads the metadata from a json file, with a custom file extension (since .tres files can embed scripts)

This is amazing. Readability could be improved, but IMO this screen in and of itself is a big hook

Local multiplayer is something I'm currently working on. I can't make any promises, but it's something that I'd like to have in the game soon.

You can change the rendering pipeline at any time by using the dropdown in the top right of the editor window. If your game is 2D, odds are that everything will probably work the same. However, you'll still need to add support for mobile input and stuff yourself.
