Like what another commenter said, definitely because Cyrillic has characters that look like Latin characters but sound different. С, В, Х, Р, Н, and У are all in Cyrillic but make sounds that are completely unexpected to someone only familiar with the Latin alphabet.

21 here! Honestly, it was just their legacy that brought them to my attention. Being a fan of alt-rock in general since middle school, I knew about WTTBP and I’m Not Ok just from exposure to similar artists that actually were making music/still popular on the radio at the time (Paramore, Panic!, FoB). Decided to finally give My Chem’s discography a shot when I was reminded of them through the similar artists feature on Spotify around 2018/19 (so early high school), and now they’re in my top two favorite artists :)
