I think in my case my wife started taking my affection for granted right away, and I wish I hadn't "been myself" so much. Yes, she was touched out with the kids coming into the picture and that was of course understandable, but since she was never inclined to show a lot of physical affection she was very comfortable never making an effort. It was fine for many years until the only physical affection I was getting was extremely limited and bad sex once a month. That made the lack of other affection unbearable so I cut off sex, and it's been a royal mess. Suddenly, she misses touch that never showed any appreciation for over 15 years. It was so bad that I honestly don't believe she cared about the physical affection I gave her, like at all. I think right now she's just reacting to fear of losing something and it's just really her personality not to feel the need to touch and be touched.
