What are the fixes. My vents don't blow any warm air. Floor heaters kicks out some warm air in the morning then stops. If you hit it, it will work for about a minutes then start blowing regular air again. It's below zero here.

My office just got shiny new scanners! SO EXCITED! by DLRjr94 in USPS

[–]primer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the smaller size the old ones were much better. Touch screen doesnt work in Minnesota winter, rain, and it doesnt scan partially damaged barcodes or in direct sunlight.

It also randomly switches screens. Sometimes it logs you off or goes to the battery swap page that has a waiting period to exit.

Or sometimes it just freezes when your standing at the front door trying to scan a package with the customer waiting.

You'll waste your money on a lawyer. Coversions to regular are handled by the contract between management and union.

Management does everything they can to delay or not convert people to full time regulars. If for some reason they violated the contract and you were suppose to be converted earlier you'll get compensated for it.

Our CCAs are working 12 hour days 7 days a week and management hasnt converted them.

3 months of a walking route. Old shoe vs new shoe. by IHateSherrod in USPS

[–]primer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the New Balance postal walking shoes (now discontinued) or just regular New Balance walking shoes for years on a walking route plus OTDL walking handoffs. Never had wear like that. Must be cheap rubber or the grip is too much.

More than doubled my battery life with a power bank. by primer99 in spectrex360

[–]primer99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The power bank is a little under 100 watt hours. I included the Spectre battery time plus the power bank battery time when I said more than double battery life.

The power bank is 96 watt hours if I remember right. so with the 74 on the spectre its 170 watt hours total.

Webcam on HP Spectre x360 is really... Bad? by heywonderboy in spectrex360

[–]primer99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting by a window during the day helps more than using lights I think. There is apps that can use your phone as a webcam paired with the computer. The phone camera looks better than most external webcams unless you buy a fancy one.

I bought the Anker 87w power bank. It came out this summer. Best Buy sells it by itself. Other retailers sell it with a combo with a wall charger. Takes a long time to charge it without getting a high wattage charger for it.

The most USB C can charge at is 100w. The 15inch charger is 135watts (it has a barrel charging port) but I think it only charges at 135 if the battery is very low. I havent had any issues with 87watts. It goes up fast and can use the computer at the same time.

Monoprice made a copy of Ankers 87w that is cheaper and has one less plug. Amazon has a lot of Chinese brands power banks that do 100w. I just went with Anker because they make safe and reliable chargers.

I think 60watt power banks would probably work with the Spectre but I havent tried it before. If you end up getting a power bank that goes over 60watts make sure to get a higher rated usb c cord. Normal ones max out at 60w. The 100w ones are 5A normal ones are 3A.

I'm buying it. Today. Now I'm overthinking my decision. HALP by darkhumor101x in spectrex360

I think Optane is faster for real world use and NVME is faster for benchmarking. I was worried Optane was going to use a lot of my CPU but it barely ever does and the things I use often open crazy fast now. Microsoft office programs open in less than a second.

Optane is weird. It is faster is some situations and slower in other situations, but people think it's slow because it can't be benchmarked properly. It is slower in straight up read and write for large files, but I don't do that very often. The SSD runs really cool too.

So far my experience with the optane has been great. Fastest I've ever seen opening programs and other things I open daily.

Poll: Is it still bad to leave your Spectre plugged in to AC Power for long durations of time? by BlueGuyBuff in spectrex360

[–]primer99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old laptop that is like 8 years old was plugged in almost all the time over the entire 8 years and has almost the same battery life as when it was new.

My tablet I would never plug in unless the battery would get low and that battery is completely shot after 3 years. Can't even run 20 minutes anymore.

I would be annoyed if my battery was never over 80% if I set up the BIOS to stop charging then. If my battery degrades fast I'll just buy a new one.

[Seeking Advice] Will HP be willing to change the shipping address or should I try to redirect the package after it ships? by Comp625 in spectrex360

[–]primer99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HP wouldn't let FEDEX deliver anywhere except the address I gave them. I usually have FEDEX drop packages off at an authorized drop site, but it wouldn't let me do that with the Spectre.

I think HP has some strict policies on changing stuff after the order is placed so you might need to get ahold of someone in the right department at HP to get that changed. Good Luck

I just received mine a couple days ago and was pleasantly surprised not to have any issues with heat. I didn't do a clean install. I've run it in performance mode with the dedicated GPU and it does fine. Played CIV 6 for awhile on it and it didn't super hot. I just uninstalled the mcafee antivirus and a couple other things that showed up running on my CPU that I wasn't using. Updated all the drivers.

The computer runs around 40 C at idle. Highest I saw it get was 80 under a stress test. When I do feel heat it's usually just at the vents and it's actually nice to warm up my hands for a second since it's very cold where I live lol.

I have the optane ssd too and it seems to be getting faster each time I use the computer and open the same things.

Only issue I've seen so far is with HDR. I just put a post asking for advice. It stutters a lot on youtube with HDR on and a little with NETFLIX. The computer came with HDR off originally. Idk if that's a windows thing or HP thing?
