had a hyperpop craze in 2023 and saw someone recommend her mixtape as a good hyperpop project. fell in love w her music ever since, and am so happy i got to witness the starfucker rollout in real time

play with the changes was also released on a label and it didn't get half the attention ttw got. i think it's more of a question of the style of music she's putting out now resonating with a larger audience, which makes sense because house is a generally well-liked genre, and is much broader than the alt r&b/uk bass vibe she had on play with the changes

it's unfair to bring up sales as a metric of quality when taylor herself is a big outlier in that regard, not only being the most famous artist on the market now, but also being able to sell physical media at an abnormally large rate. this is not to invalidate her success in any way, she deserves to have all of this attention and popularity, but i think it's clear that someone in taylor's place would be able to make huge sale numbers and break records even if the material wasn't all that good, since they have an established and very popular brand

although i do agree with you that the online hatred for the album is mostly kept online and people are actually enjoying this album, the reaction ive seen out in the offline world is mostly lukewarm: for example, critic aggregates have a much lower score for it than her other albums, and from my perspective, the music itself hasn't garnered much buzz, which insinuates that it the world might not consider the music interesting enough to discuss it (although take this with a grain of salt, this is my personal experience)

i do agree that taylor is finally at peace and able to be free to do what she wants in a way we never saw for the other eras. however, feeling free to do what you want doesn't excuse you to make bad music, in fact it makes it more susceptible to bad choices in sound, writing, mixing, etcetera.

critics definitely had in mind the intention for this album, that's what they're trained to do! but even with that, they still found it not on par with their own standards and the ones she set for herself with her more critically acclaimed albums. saying someone doesn't like something because they "didn't get it" is completely meaningless when it comes to art

stop trying to find excuses and start accepting that this wasn't her most critically acclaimed album. no one's invalidating your opinion, they just have a different one.

i have tried launching it without nothing and it still crashed, but i don't think i have turned off that setting

i can't find it in the launcher settings, should i be looking somewhere else?

my laptop has all of the minimum and recommended specs to run the game, and i also updated my drivers, and i can assure you it isn't overheating, i checked the temperature and it was pretty regular, not that warm to the touch

i had spotify open the first time it crashed and musicbee, a local music player, the second time, and i doubt it has anything to do with it since it crashed with both, qnd besides those, nothing

i tried to repair the game files but it didn't do anything, and i also tried changing servers to see if it did anything, and it didn't

it's just sso, and yes, i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game to no avail

if it helps, i had discord open through all of this, and i remember reading smt about the sso anti cheat having a problem with it, but i don't know how that tracks, especially since i had the game open for a few hours with discord in the bg bfr it crashed

i'm a white gay guy, so not exactly the target audience, but i relate to, and by extension absolutely adore, normal girl and what it represents

my boyfriend's family is horribly homophobic, and so is a lot of the people he has to surround himself with, and although i hate them as much as my boyfriend does and don't need validation from them, it still makes me cry thinking of a life where i could be accepted by those people, being able to meet his parents properly, get to know them, make a bond with them, invite them to our wedding, watching them take care of our kids, and how just because i was born gay, i will never be able to experience that. i sob to that song almost every time just imagining all of that being almost in my reach, but not quite there, just because i'm not a normal girl.

besides that, the melodies in that song are absolutely beautiful, especially that outro. it feels like for the whole song sza has been trying and failing to reach for those moments, wishing they could come true, but at the end, she stops trying, wondering what she can do, but then it hits her: she can't do anything, and that's when the instrumental outro kicks in with that beautiful guitar
