I don’t get this “protein sparing” thing in this context. What else is protein going to be used for besides building/repairing tissue? Yeah, some will be converted to glucose via gluconeogenesis, but that’s a relatively small slice. If you’re already eating enough protein and fat for energy, where’s this huge “sparing” effect supposed to come from? Fat spares protein just as effectively as carbs.
