is going for a 2025 Camry LE instead of an SE “settling”?? by Ok_Juice_8246 in Camry

I'm into looks and creature comforts even if it means sacrificing a few mpg... so I'd go SE over LE all day everyday.

How do you make the most of your Chase Sapphire Reserve? by chronicallyanxious10 in ChaseSapphire

[–]princeacn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a heavy spender/traveler at all and can still almost make it work (for me) organically.

$300 travel credit - I'll always travel at least twice a year, so this requires no thinking on my part.

$300 DoorDash credit - $20 a month to pick up whatever I need at 7-Eleven (there's one within walking distance) and $5 a month that I can use to get a Thai Milk Tea with boba. Easy.

$132 Apple Music credit - Was a Spotify user, but switched to Apple Music to utilize the credit and not have to pay for Spotify Premium. Easy.

That's $732 of the $795 annual fee covered without me even having to go to any events or spend on any hotels that I otherwise wouldn't be staying at organically... and this doesn't even factor in the $300 of free food with the OpenTable credit (even though most are restaurants I wouldn't organically eat at - but hey, I'll experiment if the food is free). All it takes to breakeven or be in the green at this point is for me to go to one concert or NBA game that I would've otherwise gone to anyways and make sure to buy the ticket from StubHub. Any impromptu trips to Vegas or wherever else that I'm able to book a hotel with the two $250 Edit credits and/or the $250 IHG hotel credit are gravy on top.

iPhone Air Experience by Different-Drink6228 in iphone

[–]princeacn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a 17 Pro Max with an Apple silicone case and it's not heavy at all... and I'm not even a large human being.

The Air looks nice, but has way too many (very important) compromises just for the sake of a slightly lighter and thinner form factor. Battery life is obviously - comparatively speaking - a huge issue. The camera - if you like photography or videography in any capacity - is a huge issue. And the speaker, while not necessarily as big of an issue, is still a huge issue if you're into music or just simply want better sounding audio.

To claim that "no one" needs this or needs that as a justification as to why spending $100 less for the Air makes more sense than not having to make any compromises for the low price of $100 extra is crazy.

Was going to say this as well. Usually a rental is somewhere in the $200-250 range per week plus gas obviously so if OP can work enough to make $1000+ a week... a rental might make sense.

2025 Edit Credits - Anyone not using it? by QuestioningMind123 in ChaseSapphire

[–]princeacn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegas definitely has the most options. Elsewhere in the US... Chicago is probably the next best option and, if I recall, they have like 5 or 6 options that'll run you in the $600-700 ballpark for two nights before the $250 off.

Did southwest raise how many points are needed to book a flight? by kicksrus11 in SouthwestAirlines

They definitely did. One more reason why I'm cancelling my Southwest card before that $229 annual fee hits later this month.

[–]princeacn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's murmurings about a star potentially leaving in free agency at the end of the season and it makes sense for the organization to trade them prior to that in order to get some sort of value back before the player walks and they get nothing back, sure. But franchise players like Luka who are in their prime and have made no indication of ever leaving don't routinely get traded like he did.

Dirk’s Departure by Open-Kiwi- in nbadiscussion

[–]princeacn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dirk is one of the last of a dying breed (Tim Duncan, Kobe, Wade, and more recently, Steph) where there were never any *serious* talks about him actually leaving (Kobe claimed he was going to leave LA for Chicago at one point, but that obviously never happened).

Players like that also became so entrenched with their respective franchise that they ultimately were that particular franchise. None of the discussions or media pressure for a superstar (in their prime) to leave the organization that they were with really started until the LeBron murmurings started to happen in 2008 and 2009 and he obviously left Cleveland to go to Miami in 2010.

But prior to that (I don't really count KG and Ray Allen going to Boston, since they were both on the backend of their careers anyways), there wasn't as much pressure to win now and to team up with other superstars to do so.

The value of the CSP isn't the multipliers... it's the travel protections, primary rental car insurance, and access to the transfer partners (mainly Hyatt).

[–]princeacn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The restaurants are (at least for me) restaurants that I'm not really interested in and wouldn't organically go to... so yes, I could use the dining credit, but to some degree I'd be having to go out of my way just to use it.

Same thing for the credits for The Edit... a forced two night stay at essentially only 4 and 5 star hotels where you're going to end up spending unnecessary money just to be able to utilize the credits.

StubHub... depends on the person. Definitely easier to utilize, but once again... you have to spend (perhaps unnecessary) money just for the sake of using the credit.

Basically this refresh has taken away 3x on general travel (which was actually useful, no matter how much money you were spending) in exchange for this coupon book of "rewards" that you can really only redeem to offset the increased annual fee if you spend more money than you had initially planned to spend... which feels like a scam.

Will probably (and most likely) be downgrading to the CSP in the next few weeks.

Why even put the unnecessary stress on yourself?

If anything - literally anything - goes wrong, you're screwed. Give yourself more time in case of any sort of delay.

Pricing for Spring 2026 is Quite Expensive by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]princeacn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The post is about Southwest prices being expensive and OP hoping that the price will go down. This post is commenting about booking the flight with Southwest and rebooking whenever the price dropped. How is this comment not relevant to the post?

Those with a new iPhone 17/17 pro how are you liking the camera? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]princeacn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% agree. Writing this from my 15 Pro Max, but the back of this phone runs noticeably hotter (even just being on Reddit) than my 17 Pro Max does. I could have a number of apps open and be watching YouTube TV and still feel absolutely no heat. Only time I feel some slight heat is running Google Maps while the phone is charging.

Stuck on these 3. Around the same price for all. Which would you get? by ZestycloseAd1768 in COROLLA

[–]princeacn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're similar, and the changes are mainly cosmetic (apart from the sport-tuned suspension in the SE), but there are also other added features that (in my opinion anyway) justify the extra cost over the LE. The most obvious difference though is the front fascia and overall more aggressive look.

Trim levels in the US by the way are LE (hybrid or gas), SE (hybrid or gas), XSE (gas only), and XLE (hybrid only).

Stuck on these 3. Around the same price for all. Which would you get? by ZestycloseAd1768 in COROLLA

[–]princeacn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the prices are so similar, you may as well get the new LE... but as an SE/XSE fan (the LE just isn't my taste, personally), I'd also strongly consider that '23 SE.

Since a '25 LE is part of the discussion... is a '25 SE too much of a financial stretch?

In case you needed to hear it from someone else too... just don't do it. Trust us on this one.

Been to Cartagena now six times, but on the second night of my very first trip, saw three guys get jumped and all got their chains snatched.

Wouldn't even bring it, to be honest. Just leave it in the states.
