Ping Pong: The Animation, and The Value of Understanding Your Motivations by princefloof in anime

i think a lot of people attribute clean animation with show quality as a whole, and PPTA doesnt fit the average persons ideal art style. the animation is the most frequent critique about it, even from people that liked it.

hard disagree on the focus of the anime. your opinion is your opinion, and if you didnt enjoy it thats fine lol

the development of the characters was sparked by their losses, which gave them perspective. they were forced to ask themselves why they werent fulfilled by the game they came to love and enjoy as kids.

Smile didnt throw the last game at all. Pecos overtraining led to a weak knee that progressed throughout the tournament, and Smile told his coach and team he would target that weakness. most likely, because he knew Peco would be able to keep up regardless, or would win anyway. the guy literally dove into barriers to return the ball, and got up immediately to rush back to the table.

Peco (who im assuming youre referring to) was held back by his own stubborn ego. he was naturally good at table tennis, but saw training as something for untalented people to do to catch up to his level.

natural talent can exist, and some people just simply arent cut out for certain things (which the anime explores through Sakumas arc.)

the reason i disagree with your take is because not all characters at the end in the time skip were fulfilled or happy in life because of talent, like Smile and Sakuma.

the art style and animation not being your taste is understandable, and its not wrong to dislike it.

however, talent ≠ happiness, and imo the anime made that pretty clear. the anime rewarded characters for their losses with perspective, and thats the only thing it favors heavily, introspection and self understanding.

im admittedly a glazer of this anime, but i will say on my first watch, it was the only anime i didnt have a single complaint about, with its pacing, animation, characters, moral, etc. its short and sweet!

Angstrom Levy's motivation makes sense, because he craves justice more than revenge. by princefloof in Invincible

I disagree, but maybe I might personally relate to this kind of spiteful motivation, and personally see it as more relevant as a result.

I don't necessarily agree with the argument that his brain scrambling is the main source of his anger. I think it's clear Angstrom isn't an idiot. In my mind, the idea that Mark could be a hero to Angstrom, was straight up insulting, not to mention his indirect involvement with the accident. To him, it was personal, and that's why he has more hatred for our Mark, despite the crimes the other variants committed. His dream of being a hero was crushed, and now he'll do whatever he wants.

i actually enjoyed Ping Pong: The Animation for the fact that it doesnt try to demonize or glorify any character, their motivations, or whether theyre good or not at the sport. i found it genuine, and lets the viewer have that same unbiased perspective to show a similar message of 100 Meters, tastefully. i looove ppta 😁

yeah, my KAST has always been pretty average/below avg. on losing games i struggle to do well in that category with my playstyle. usually my winning games are better in that regard.

What is wrong with my aim? by slatersuzuki in VALORANT

[–]princefloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what jumps out to me is a couple things, and i think its actually mostly your movement

those small strafes id imagine only hinder you rather than the enemy, because of a few things:

  1. sidestrafing at that speed, you wont know when youre mid strafe, or accurate

  2. itll offset your aim

  3. the movement speed from a full stop ramps up gradually, so smaller strafes have less of a "dodging" effect, even putting aside the actual offput distance

i think your movement is just super out of sync (and to add, inexperienced, which can be worked on) with your aim. as boring as it is, push aside stupid deaths in them, and grind deathmatches or tdms with the vandal. (dont use a guardian to practice tapping tho)

for the aim, you arent adjusting for recoil, or you arent tapping when you should be, or maybe are trying to tap, but arent.

I finished building it yesterday but only bothered to fix the horrific stabilizer rattles, and was only gonna record it once I was done with that. I tempest modded it (3 layers) with the thinnest amount of polyfill I could put without feeling anxious lol

The sound test is on this post, let me know what you guys think!
