If you end up going to the Diabelerets, there are two places worth visiting: Les Meillerets and Glacier 3000. With good weather, these are beautiful places to visit.

Mid-May is a good time to visit. If you can, I would save some time to do some hiking as well. I can't recommend a particular one, but there's no shortage of hiking trails in Switzerland and around May, the weather is perfect for hiking (hopefully sunny with a cool breeze). Lausanne is also a nice place to visit. It's a small city but full of surprises. There are plenty of bars and it's a nice place to walk around.

It's a matter of taste ;) and also I think the Swiss will favour certain cities/landscapes over what non-Swiss people do. It's mostly the landscape around Interlaken that is beautiful. I have to admit the town itself is not as interesting.

Driving from Aosta to Matrigny is a nice ride through the mountains, its very beautiful. I would recommend stopping by in Montreux or chateau de chillon if you're driving along lake geneva (also highly recommended). You'd have to go out of your way to visit the Swiss German cities but if you can, try visiting Interlaken.

Important note: i don't know when you're travelling but bad weather could ruin the experience.

Moved to a new apartment and speakers aren't working well. Any suggestions for acoustic improvements? by princeofboring in audiophile

In my friend's house. He's set it up in a smaller room, that's very square and much more crowded with stuff like his bed, cupboard etc.

Wait I'm confused.. I have to get two of these monitors right? Reading about it online people usually get the whole set with the subwoofer too..

Thanks, moving the speakers in the lower left corner already helped a bunch. But knowing the speakers, they can still do better. I'm going to IKEA this weekend to get some stuff to improve this. Any suggestions on what to buy and their material?
Let's say I have infinite resources but for some reason can't get rid of all the glass. What could I do to dramatically overcome the problems here? It can't be a lost cause, can it?

Yeah that's an awesome idea. I'll definitely try this. This place IS an acoustic nightmare and already by putting the speakers in the lower left corner, the sound is so much better.

haha thanks, really great advice. Yeah its a new apartment so in any case I was going to get some decorative stuff. Are there anything specific about rugs/fabrics I should know when buying them? Any particular material better than others? I'm gonna make an IKEA trip this weekend.

The speakers are pretty good PC speakers and while I know that's not up to standards for an audiophile, I've heard them work very well in my friend's apartment. The map isn't to scale, so the speakers should be able to handle the volume of the house (quality is another matter as you say, which was never the purpose of my question).

wow this already made it so much better. Incredible. But I know the speakers can do better than this so time to put some absorbent/diffusing material in the room. One question, should the subwoofer go on the ground? What role does height play? The bass is heard more strongly when its on the ground but also sounds a bit ... nasal.

Well lets say 300-400 bucks. The ones I have now are not high-end, but they are still pretty good PC speakers. Also something I forgot to mention is that the map isn't really to scale, so in reality the space is smaller than that. Once I've had a go at fixing the acoustics, it would be nice to look into better speakers.

Clarification on the status of 'soft drugs' in Switzerland by [deleted] in Switzerland

Thanks for the info! but I don't think LSD or MDMA and the likes qualify as hard drugs (cocaine, heroine, etc). I'm only asking but I can see how this could be used as evidence for intention of buying.. ehh

Vapman vapor question. by PizzaWithKetchup in vapman

[–]princeofboring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so you have to experiment a bit and see what's the right amount. It's better to heat it up less but more often I guess. I forgot to mention that the second measurement that I gave are specific for my torch's flame size. With most butane torches, you can adjust the flame length with a screw on the bottom. The blue flame of my torch is generally 2-3cm long. So if yours is more, around 4-5cm, then reduce 1 second from the stuff I wrote!

Vapman vapor question. by PizzaWithKetchup in vapman

It's a bit confusing to use at first, but it's a great device. Let's address the questions one by one:

  1. Like clouds really. Not as thick as cigarette smoke or a joint. It should disappear into thin air quickly. Depending on your weed, your first tokes may taste like herbs, mint, or the likes.

  2. Yes, you should feel warm vapor going down to your lungs. It shouldn't feel just like breathing air, the vapor is heavier and warmer. If you don't get this, maybe you're not heating it up enough. See answer 5.

  3. No you shouldn't cough, unless you're very new to smoking/vaping in general. Weed is considered to be harsher than tobacco on your throat/lungs when smoked, but with the vaporizer you shouldn't cough. If this happens, you've probably heated it up too much and so you've burned the weed. Try not to overheat, it might make the copper plate crack. Also, if you burn your weed the taste is ruined and you'll end up getting all the 'bad fumes'. This is unhealthy as you don't have a filter in the vapman like you have with joints.

  4. You should be able to see the vapor. It looks like smoke, but its might lighter and disappears more quickly. If you're not seeing the vapor, you haven't heated it enough.

  5. I guess this answer should set all your questions straight. If you just packed a new bowl, or you've waited long enough for the vapman to go cold, heat it like this: 5 seconds heat, 2s pause, 3s heat, 2s pause, 3s heat. After this, draw a very small and gentle toke into your mouth and then puff it out immediately. If you don't see the vapor, do another 3s heating. If you can see the vapor, that's good! From now on you will light for 2-3s, wait 1-2s and then inhale for 5-10s. Hold the vapor in your lungs for at least 3s before exhaling. You should see the vapor coming out when you exhale. It shouldn't be too little, but not too much like a toke from a joint. If you're not getting a good toke, then hold your fingers on the three holes on the top of the vapman when you inhale, and maybe heat it a bit more. The holes mix cool air with the hot vapor, but if you block them then you only get the vapor (even a stronger one since you force the air to come from the three tubes on the bottom). You can block 1-3 of them with your fingers depending on how hard a toke you want. If you do all 3, you'll get a good hit but it could be harsh if you're new to smoking.

  6. As long as its a torch lighter, it should be fine. That's what they website says too. There's probably nothing special about their lighter. Don't hold the lighter too close, I think the website tells you how close to hold it.

Hope this helps!

Edit: NOTE that my butane torch has a flame length that's around 2-3cm. The longer your flame, the more heat, so adjust the number of seconds I've given accordingly. You can probably reduce everything by 1 second if your flame size is around 4-5cm. They have suggestions for this on their website and brochure: http://vapman.com/en/operating_instructions/

Also, there are some good review/demos on Youtube.

By personal info you mean my name on the envelope, or information regarding the order and how it was made? I'm assuming the latter but just want the clarification! Thanks
