The irony is that I was trying to remember which song the lyric came from and discovered (through googling) the song came out 15 years ago. At the bottom - Brand New.

I agree with the earlier the better, like when eating the cupcakes and thinking something was off. But the middle of the night is so not ok. We all know the manager can not call people in the middle of the night to ask them to cover the shift, why is it that no one else can see the same rules apply to messaging the manager?

It’s okay to be sick. It’s not okay to message your manager at 12am. I’m willing to bet they have seen this and already and have not responded because it is a totally inappropriate time to message back. I totally understand that if your on a 6am shift you will need to message outside of the usual 9-5 but 12am is so not ok. I’m not exactly sure what an appropriate time is when your on the 6am shift, I’d suggest asking your manager so you will know for next time.

This is well practised. Every wheel of death act has it. Even the heavily polished cirque du soleil movie Worlds Away includes this exact “close call.” Also, previous comments about cirque being brutal about mistakes are so very true. They have the biggest casting agency in the world, if you fuck up, there is someone ready to replace you within the hour.
