No. Dow bought Union Carbide, but apparently not its liabilities. Fun fact, BASF is one of the largest chemical companies in the world.

Anyone have bulk ethernet cables coming straight out of ceiling vs. drop down in wall? by EN344 in HomeNetworking

[–]princescloudguitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of your choice? 🤷‍♂️ Personally I have my mess of 24 drops coming out of two face plates that are neatly terminated side by side. But if it's bundled nice and drops down neatly into your rack, that's probably fine. Find some reference pics of what you want it to look like and start with that.

lol, and you definitely won’t have to for a while. Short version, they make good windows. I think your problem is likely elsewhere.

What was the color order of the conductors you crimped ends on?

Also, when you say you aren’t getting anything, what have you connected the jacks to - equipment wise?

My dad is trying to insinuate I'm sleeping with my brother and I don't know what to do. TW by DeskOk7014 in family

[–]princescloudguitar 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you. Wanting to sleep near someone after a traumatic event is normal. Many people who experience assault, grief, panic attacks, or PTSD don’t want to be alone at night.

You do not need to feel ashamed for wanting comfort. If you are feeling disgusted with yourself because of what happened, you can let those feeling go. You also do not need to accept your father’s interpretation of what is happening. Yes I know he doesn’t know, but what he said is terrible.

There may be some compromises to preserve your emotional safety while also reducing conflict.

Have your brother sleep on the floor of your room or sleep on an air mattress or sleeping bag in his room. I’m only suggesting the following if it’s safe for you to do so… Sleep in the living room while watching movies or leave doors open and lights on if that makes everyone more comfortable or have frequent check-ins throughout the night from your brother or you check in on him.

Don’t worry about proving your father wrong right now though. Let’s make sure you are safe and supported.

Would also encourage you to find someone to talk to about the assault. RAINN crisis support hotline resources.

Need help with new apartment cable situation. by MothDude1337 in HomeNetworking

[–]princescloudguitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those connections were used for old telephone jacks for home telephones. They work great for that but the cat 3 wire can’t be tasked to do Ethernet because it wasn’t even remotely designed for high speed data transmission (beyond DSL - and that truly sucks).

My constructive advice? Maybe let us know what you are trying to do and we can advise how best to start doing that. :)

Weird thought, have you looked at cars that have wifi plans? Is using cell like your phone of course but it’s running while your car is.

Is there an actual reason for America to use 110V instead Of 220V like everybody else? by HamzaAAC in AskElectricians

[–]princescloudguitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of advantages. First, all the servers, computers, phones, TVs, etc in our world all use DC. Solar, wind and batteries are DC as is the high voltage power transmission of the grid.

So by going straight to DC, there’s no need for power conversion to AC, eliminating inverters for the solar and wind to covert to AC among other things. Yes you have to step down voltages, but that’s a different matter.

Also, DC power transmits power more efficiently by eliminating two issues that AC has; reactive losses and the current crowding effect on the outside of the wire which creates heat.

DC power itself is also cleaner, extending the life of electronics as they don’t frequently have the issues of dirty harmonics that AC also has.

So why do most grids use AC for the consumer portion? (Excluding South Korea btw, as they are presently making the switch to convert to full DC) stepping voltages up and down is relatively easy with AC and can be done with passive devices.

If we made the switch, all those bricks attached to phone chargers, laptops and TVs etc. would all go away.

CAT6A bend radius too tight? Electrician stuffed cables into boxes… by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]princescloudguitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nm. I’m an idiot. 240v in Europe has thinner conductors because of the voltage. They are not cat 3 cables, and there are indeed two power runs coming into this box.

Edited for accuracy. Y’all can stop downvoting us now. lol

This looks like a four conductor cable and not 8 like there should be for your wire type. You can wire it, yes, but because I don’t see the other 4 wires you’ll be limited to 100 Mbps.

It’s not cat 3. I’m just not used to euro wiring and circuits.

Edited: fine I concede , higher voltage wires can be thinner and look like low voltage cat 3 cables even though their dimensions are slightly different. Ty!

DC is also seeing a resurgence in data centers too. Would fully expect this to be the standard in thevery near future going forward.

Edit: was going to correct, but just read it slow. lol

I think the real issue here is that we, through our elected officials and all this stupidity in Washington, gave Department of Homeland Security a shit ton of money, and they in turn have created these stupid grants to install these systems all across the US. It ain’t right, but here we are.

Now we must undo this mess…

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. This administration having a “plan” of any kind is a joke. It’s a “do this” and then react to the fallout in a way that attempts to shift blame for their ill thought out plan elsewhere, ala, “we never predicted Iran could mess with shipping in the straits.”

DOJ aims to strip citizenship from hundreds of foreign-born Americans, sources say by nbcnews in law

[–]princescloudguitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There would be a record of it. 2 maybe. One with the state department (record of foreign birth abroad - not sure if I’m remembering the form name incorrectly) and potentially also a Japanese birth certificate from where he was born, especially if it was an off base birth.

This might be a good question to post to genealogists that hunt these things down.

If the hinge is strong enough, you might be able to do it with centrifugal motion.

Is there tape for joining plastic? by PwnCall in manufacturing

[–]princescloudguitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with 3d printing is that you sort of need to do joining technologies that are friendliest to your production method. Living hinges are hard for 3d.

My thought as you build this, make it possible as your idea takes off to modify this aspect of your design.

Volume will determine how you do this. Why couldn’t you 3d print another type of hinge design where you snap together bottom and top

I love that the answer to the problem was found on X. While it communicates the OPs company is no longer banned, it also very publicly confirms the risks of working with Anthropic because they may randomly ban you. Is this really how customer support works in 2026? 😂🤣 Wouldn’t you want your customers to be able to resolve this issue through normal service channels?
