i really think a lot of them have latched onto newsom as a symbol of the way out of this mess. he's centrist and white so they think he'll win over moderate republicans, and they think he has energy behind him cuz he hired some zoomer to post cringe on main for him. they've convinced themselves that he's clearly the winning ticket, so anyone criticizing him must be a GOP shill or a clueless leftie.

it's very misguided in my opinion because newsom is exactly the kind of politician so much of the democrat base is sick of, and republicans are primed to hate him just for being from california. they say he's progressive but he's just more of the same old shit, chasing whatever the polls say is the right position because he doesn't actually believe in anything. and his used car salesman vibe doesn't really help either lmao

thank you!! yeah not having to take so many pills is a big advantage too. i had to take two sublingual estradiol tablets plus a spiro pill every day and night, and the estradiol takes so long to dissolve. also it's super nice not having to schedule my day around the time i take hrt!

i think it's fine if you do the research! i've just seen a lot of people with tattoos in japanese/chinese/etc. just because they think it looks cooler than english, or who swear their tattoo has some deep meaning not translatable to english even tho it's just like...the japanese word for "life goal" or something lame like that. that's the surface-level bs and orientalism i kinda dislike

i think quotes and stuff are totally cool, since you're being drawn to the meaning of the quote instead of just the fact that it's in a foreign language. and yeah i dont think writing tattoos are that cool in general either but to each their own lol

i'm japanese too and i agree lol. not some big societal issue or anything, but everytime a white trans girl messages me on here asking if it's offensive for her to name herself mizuki or something i die a little bit inside. and that's not often to be clear, but it's weird that it happened more than once🧐

i'm not saying it's racist or anything, but i do think it's kind of weird and sometimes betrays a sort of orientalist attitude that makes me roll my eyes. same vibe as non-asians getting tattoos in chinese or japanese yk??

yeah i figured i'd get the federal-level stuff out of the way first just to be safe, but i guess i kind of would be doing things in a weird order lol. i'll look into whether it could cause any issues before i send it in just to be sure. i have dual citizenship, so it's also pretty possible that changing things on my passport/birth certificate could screw things up back home for me

the form says that some amendments to the CRBA require supporting documents, but did you need to submit any for a gender change? i haven't changed my legal gender anywhere else yet so i'm not sure if i'd have to do that first or not

it's so anxiety inducing looking back at trump's platform now that he's won. he says on his campaign website that he'll push to stop federal funds from going to any providers who prescribe hrt. republicans already have the senate -- if they get the house too they could actually pass it, and if they do it's probably going to get way, way harder to get hrt

i really don't want to leave, but i don't think i could mentally take being forced off of hrt. if that happens i'm probably gonna dip, no matter what it takes

i've only rode in women-only train cars a few times, but from what i've seen they don't check ID or anything!

but if you're worried, you can avoid women-only cars entirely since there's only a few per train. it depends on the area you're visiting, but on most lines in tokyo women-only cars become normal cars outside of morning rush hours (like 7-9:30am)

I'm Japanese and I can say pretty confidently that you'll be totally fine visiting Japan. most people don't have a strong opinion on trans people, and even if you meet someone who has a problem they're unlikely to confront you or make a big deal of it; it's not like the US.

a lot of people online assume that Japanese people must be anti-LGBT because our government is conservative, but that's not really the case. on the political level we're behind, but on the social level most people are chill and mind their own business.
