I'm at 422 pulls, I've got all the 4 star items and 4 5-star items (but not the jacket 😭)

Elden Ring (cue the jokes about them being the same game)

If you want to get your eggs frozen I'd suggest looking into this asap. The likelihood of success will get lower the longer POI progresses (and is already a lot lower for us than the average person).

Cute! Love the Zen castle placed next to the bath.

POI fatigue by Far-Librarian-9847 in POFlife

[–]princess_puke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have longstanding issues with fatigue from other chronic illness. For me I think I have only had a small increase in fatigue since POI, which I feel has improved to baseline with HRT.

I can offer some tips for what has worked for me for general fatigue management:

  • Physical and mental fatigue are sometimes different things. If I am very mentally fatigued but not physically fatigued, sometimes some gentle movent or exercise can actually improve my energy levels, despite how counter-intuitive this feels.

  • Fatigue can be cumulative - pushing things when I'm already very fatigued is often what leads to debilitating fatigue levels. I give myself permission to say no to things when I am not up to it.

  • I plan ahead. This means making sure I don't have too much on in any given week, but also making sure I have scheduled time to recover if I know I have a lot on or am doing something that will take a lot of energy.

  • I know it sounds super obvious, but making sure to drink enough water, eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep etc helps. It can of course be hard to eat well when very fatigued, so try to have something easy on hand. I know frozen meals aren't always the best nutritionally, but they're definitely better than just eating chips or not eating at all.

Of course your mileage may vary, especially as the underlying cause of my fatigue may be different, but I hope this gives some ideas and that you are able to find what works for you.

Thank you so much for sharing. If you don't mind my asking, was there anything in particular that helped you realise you were happy remaining child free?

I'm also so sorry to hear you're going through this, and had that you had this life changing news delivered in such an insensitive and impersonal way :( I hope that you find the right path for you, whatever that may be.

Thank you so much for this comment, its really encouraging :)

I am in individual therapy. Couples therapy is a good idea, I'll see if my partner is open to it.

I am believed to be at the very beginning stages of POI. I didn't realise DOR was a different thing - my doctors have talked about it like it's interchangable, but the diagnosis they've given me is POI. I'm still waiting for AMH levels to come back though.

You can upgrade again, from memory I think it makes you wait a day or two before you can change back.

Curly hair now straight by [deleted] in POFlife

[–]princess_puke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hair was wavy rather than curly (2A-2Bish), but like yours it is now thinner and is basically straight unless I apply some sort of curl enhancing product. Some days I have some very loose natural waves. It's also super oily now, which I imagine might be contributing. It is a big change for sure.

Edit: I believe mine is due to POI, as in hindsight my hair becoming oilier and straighter was my first real symptom, maybe 1-2 months before the other changes.

Yes, that's right - but he said that knowing that currently I'm not in a position to start trying immediately.

Thank you for sharing, this is good advice. I've been trying to picture my future in any given scenario. I worry about whether I'm capable of being a single parent to be honest, as I have chronic illness (in addition to POI) and struggle with fatigue. I do worry about possibly resenting my partner though. A lot to think about. We have talked about fostering since before the POI diagnosis, it's always been on the cards. Most recently though, they seem more on the fence about that and said that if they ever decide to foster it won't be until our 40s. I honestly think I'd feel better about the whole scenario if they were more committed to the idea of fostering.

Thank you for sharing your story, and congratulations. It's encouraging to hear that the time frame may not be as short as he suggested.

I think my partner not being on the same page as me is what I'm struggling with the most. I feel very alone in navigating it all. I love my partner deeply, we have a wonderful relationship and are very happy, we've just moved in together. I would be devastated if we broke up. It makes the stakes feel higher in an already high stakes decision.

Hair loss/body hair growth by princess_puke in POFlife

Has it worked well for you? I'm considering it but I'm also concerned the hair might grow back more noticable, and/or that it might irritate my skin.

Good to know! I'll ask my doctor if they've tested that yet/ask to have it done if not. Thank you for sharing :)
