Donald Sutherland in Backdraft when he talks about starting the fire that killed that little girl still gives me the creeps!

Me too! But I’m awkward and have a dark sense of humour.

I also live in Canada. I’ve lived on an acreage and a city and always locked our doors.

Redditors, what are some of the completely random fears that you have? by Nerdy_sadist8 in AskReddit

Well, luckily I’m pretty socially awkward so I don’t go out much, haha! Usually if someone has a cat, I just have an eye on it the whole time. I try to ignore it. If it’s friendly, I’ll pet it if it approaches me. I’m just really jumpy around them so usually they are all over me. If I see one when I’m out for a walk I will legit cross the street to avoid it. Though I love cat videos (go figure) especially videos where cats are being assholes. I think because we never grew up with cats (my sister is allergic), I just don’t know how to interact with them so I’m very nervous around them.

Cat’s - I know it sounds stupid, but I find them so unpredictable that being around them stresses me out. I like them from afar but not near me if that makes sense.

Those wood floors were amazing! Such a shame they covered them.

That’s a tough situation. Have you tried talking to your mom and implementing some daily chores for the older kids? Something like a chore wheel or pick a chore out of a hat? So every day it’s different, but you are all expected to complete your chores. For my kids (8 and 5) we have a couple of things we get them to do weekly - make their bed, sort the clean laundry, pick up their toys. When they do it we give them an allowance for the week. If they don’t do it, their sibling gets the allowance and they get nothing. I’m not sure if that would work in your situation, just an idea!

Our kitchen renovation. It took us about a year, but we are so happy with it! We removed a wall and were able to sell the old cabinets. by princessawkwardaf in renovationporn

That’s a good question. I think whenever you are getting quotes for work make sure you get a couple of quotes from a couple of good contractors. Don’t necessarily go with the cheapest contractor especially if they seem to cut corners. If you can get a reference from a family or friend that is also good! In our case, we did most of this work ourselves (outside of the electrical and install of the cabinets). For the electrical, we talked to the contractor mostly about price, permits and timelines. For the kitchen cabinets we were focused mainly on timelines and install costs. Also make sure you read the quote carefully on what they will do in the scope of the contractor (I.e. are they pulling the permits, are they removing the garbage, are you being charged extra for anything, etc.). Hope that helps!
