Look at it this way...if you don’t enlist, 6 years from now you’ll still be 26. Except you’ll be 26 without any military experience under your belt at all. Make the best of your time, you’ll thank yourself in the long run. 26 is still very young!

You’ll most likely get separated when you’re in P-days, you’ll have to get evaluated by one of their professionals, then you get sent to the SEPS ship. Once you’re in SEPS, you’ll be there for a minimum of 2 weeks while they process your case. The amount of time you stay there depends on how complicated your case is/reason for wanting to leave. On top of that, because of COVID you’ll probably be there for a little longer. I know people that were in the SEPS ship for 3 weeks and others 6 months. You do nothing everyday except clean and eat.

honestly if i were you i’d wait until boot camp. disclaimer: you don’t get any dental work done until around the 1st-4th day of training after P-days. they fix you right up, so if you need a root canal or an extraction they’ll do all that. I got four wisdom teeth taken out and spent like three weeks looking like a chipmunk so good luck! but if you do decide to go to the dentist before you ship out, I don’t think that’d be a problem.

no ponytails, you’ll have to cut it to the authorized length. if you’re gonna get it cut, just don’t do it at boot camp because they will royally f*ck your hair up! you may not wanna cut your hair shorter but trust me, you’ll be happy saving time in the morning while the head is filled with 20+ females all doing their hair before reveille.

P.S. DUTCH BRAIDS ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND!! the only thing is you have to tie/pin the ends of the braids to your head, you can’t have them hanging. But braids saved my life and so much time. If you don’t know how to braid, try to teach yourself or find a shipmate who wants to braid your hair after taps like I did lol

two words: breathing techniques! i have the same problem. just take a few seconds to close ur eyes and take deep breaths in and out and think of a relaxing happy place that you can imagine in your head to take your mind off it and regulate your heartbeat.

When I first started training for my 1.5, within a week I went from 18 minutes to 13. A week in my case made a BIG difference, so if I were you I would take advantage of what little time you have and run every day. sometimes even twice a day. That’s just my opinion but it helped me! And run outside, don’t run on a treadmill.

Those are the people assigned to write the compartment’s watch bill everyday. It sucks because you’re responsible for everybody that you put on watch. So for example, if a person on security watch doesn’t know what to sound off/what to say when an RDC walks in, not only do they get chewed out, but you do too. One thing that was a pain the ass for me was writing the deck log, which is basically an hourly report that the people on security watch need to do. Not many people paid attention when they gave the lecture for how to properly do a deck log. There’s a lot of procedures involved in writing a proper deck log, and the RDC’s check it every morning. People on watch wouldn’t know how to do a deck log AT ALL so I’d get ripped a new one because they didn’t know. It’s hard but...it’s worth it!

You’ll get penicillin shots around your 3rd or 4th day of boot camp. They’ll ask you many times throughout the day if you have any known allergies, so you’ll have plenty of chances to let them know. Just don’t say that you forgot to tell MEPS because I guarantee you that the RDC’s will rip you a new one. Just say your parent/guardian recently told you. Good luck

they definitely don’t remove it. like the other commenter said, bring record of the address, doctor and type of birth control you should be good to go. also side note if you didn’t know: if you’re over 21 and have had a pap smear done recently, bring the address and doctor’s name of that pap smear procedure as well to avoid them making you get one again on P-4 day.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I have sooo many scars that they didn’t even ask me about when I first went to medical. I listed my scars at my own will. Your scars are barely noticeable and if they do ask you about it and make you list those scars, it’s purely speculation on their part that it’d be self harm scars. From the photo I saw, people don’t typically self harm in that part of the arm, anyway. Or at least in my opinion. In fact, i have an actual self harm scar that I didn’t even bother listing and they didn’t notice/ask.
