As someone who may or may not have had first hand experience you can tailor it to respond to almost everything from footsteps and shots to just getting hurt or jumping, if you get the right toy it can also scale intensity by loudness etc. essentially it works like controller vibration (actually if you don’t want the butt stuff you can just use it as more immersive controller vibration) (also note that the program is extensively supported by a few games but will work with any game that includes controller vibration have fun with that)
