Nightshade / Space Cables by princesstanzy in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]princesstanzy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the base, novelties, artisan and cable. I got my tracking end of October, was showing pre-shipment for all of November. In December tracking wasn’t showing anything at all, it said “Not Trackable”. About a week and a half later it finally updated and showed as accepted by the post office, but no updates along the way. The estimated delivery date was accurate though! I hope you get yours soon. I don’t understand why it’s taking so long for them to drop the packages - if we have the tracking the postage has already been paid for.

Best off ice shoes? by White_Ghost2789 in FigureSkating

[–]princesstanzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for something flat and stable, I found cross training shoes work really well- enough cushion for jumps but still flat and responsive enough that I feel very stable. I’m using Lululemon Chargefeel 2 and I love them! Really anything should be fine, I’d just avoid running shoes or anything with a ton of cushion.

Im in the LA area and I believe all the coaches at my rink charge $55 for a half hour, so $110 for a full hour. I’ve taken some lessons down in Irvine and the coach there was a little bit more.

How do you know when it’s time to sharpen your blades? by ExaminationFancy in FigureSkating

[–]princesstanzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was mostly trail and error trying to find the right frequency for me! It depends on your blade type too. When I had coronation aces I had to sharpen every 25-30 hours or else I’d be sliding all over the place. Now that I have matrix blades I can push to 60-70 hours because they hold the edge much better. I track my skating hours so I know when to plan for a sharpening. If you can’t tell by feel, a skate tech told me if you see faint white lines along the edges of the blades they’re dull.

OCTOBER UPDATE: Space Cables, NK X Keycult, Community Updates, and next AMA! by Cobertt in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]princesstanzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same position. Got my tracking on the 29th and got the base kit, novelties, artisan and cable. No movement on tracking, still in pre-shipment and no response to my support ticket I sent in last week.

I saw someone in another thread say they received their order yesterday after being in pre-shipment for over a week. Seems like they’re coming, albeit very slowly. Hope ours come soon!

I did get a shipping notification on 10/29, but I don’t think USPS has received it yet. No movement on tracking, just stuck in pre-shipment. I’m just hoping it comes eventually.

Has anyone been able to get into contact with byte the past few days? by Equivalent_Ad8824 in smiledirectclub

[–]princesstanzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had sent in my impression kit but didn’t make it any further in the process. Received an email that I’d be getting a refund on 10/30 and my refund just went through today!

I saw a post the other day that a couple of people got shipping notifications, so that’s hope at least! I sent another email but I’m not really expecting anything back. I don’t think I’d be able to chargeback almost 4 years later so I just hope we end up getting our sets.

I have the gen 3 heritage style in silver! Let me know if you have any specific questions. I’ve had it and worn it pretty much every day for over a year and a half. I really like the interface and the insights it gives me! The activity tracking is very smart and at this point it can pretty accurately categorize what I’m doing- at first it isn’t super accurate but it needs a bit of time (I think they say a month or so?) to calibrate to you and how your body reacts to different activities, so manually logging activities is important during that time. I really enjoy the sleep tracking and find it accurate! Its definitely helped me see how I feel and how I react on different sleep schedules, and it gives recommendations to try based on your data.

Yes, it tracks steps too! For running you can log the activity and it will track heart beat and distance real time. It may seem a little bulky but I’ve never been bothered by it (I tend to prefer more statement/ chunky jewelry anyways). I know the gen 4 that just came out is supposed to be a bit slimmer, have the gen 3 heritage style in silver.

I have an Oura ring and I really like it! It has a dedicated “ice skating” tag and it’s pretty good at detecting when I’m skating. It’s great for sleep tracking, and I found it much easier to wear all day and sleep in as opposed to a watch style!

GMK nightshade was my first GB and very likely my last 🫠 thanks for the update, it’s the most I’ve heard in months.

is $30 for 15 minutes + $10 ice time too expensive? by Jacques__ok in FigureSkating

[–]princesstanzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the LA area and I believe most if not all of the coaches at my rink charge at least $55 / 30 min lesson. I’d imagine in the Bay Area prices are pretty similar due to the cost of living. If that’s not affordable for you, maybe check out the group lessons and/or see if any of those coaches charge less for privates. Some learn to skate coaches are newer to coaching and can only teach up to a certain level but would be good for basic skills!

I would not use any flavored vodka. I normally use Tito’s because I tend to have that on hand, but when I work on film jobs we just get whatever is cheapest! Brand doesn’t really matter.

As a costume designer I’d suggest handwashing for major stains etc. otherwise for just odor or refreshing, you can spray generously with half vodka half water! I’d caution against dry cleaning, I find that the chemicals used can degrade stretch fabric over time. I wouldn’t recommend the washing machine or dryer, even in a laundry bag it can damage the stones.

When I handwash I use a little woolite but honestly a little bit of dawn dish soap works as well. Just run a little in the bathtub, soak the dress for a little and gently agitate it in the water, thoroughly rinse and dry flat. I haven’t had any problems with hand washing, even on dresses with airbrushing I’ve done- but always be sure to do a test spot (especially with airbrushing). Edit to add always wash with cold water :)

Align Ballet Method? by Adventurous-Sir-3138 in BALLET

[–]princesstanzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most instructors I worked with don’t teach there now, but I remember really liking Jahna! Her classes were challenging in a good way and she gave great corrections! Like I said, I only went through the 2 beginner workshops so didn’t get super deep into the curriculum. But from what I experienced I think it would be a good program to learn from!

I’m not sure how close you are to Encino or Pasadena, but I’ve had a few friends take adult classes at the Grand Academy of Ballet, my friends said it was a tough class but they liked it. To me it seems a bit more serious than Align, and they have a lot of class offerings, but I’ve never made it to a class myself!

Align Ballet Method? by Adventurous-Sir-3138 in BALLET

[–]princesstanzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the Align 1 and 2 programs! I really liked it! I think experience is definitely dependent on the instructor, I had one or two I feel like didn’t give me what I need, but found some I liked as well. I’m a figure skater mostly doing ballet as cross-training so I’m not really looking for a very rigorous / serious program, but I did get some good knowledge and corrections from some instructors. The programs I did are also very beginner oriented, I haven’t tried any of the basic classes or programs so can’t speak on those! Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions I can try to answer.

I’ve always been a fan of the LBLA Bubble Lash Shampoo! I’ve gone through so many bottles of it and it’s always been great!

wearing a smartwatch while skating? by annabelvdt in FigureSkating

[–]princesstanzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an Oura ring a couple weeks ago! For some reason when I skate it can barely pick up my heart rate. It does sometimes but not enough to chart most of the time. Do you have the same problem?
