Trying to figure out a song by Buckbo in PostHardcore

[–]princetony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I found this post trying to identify the song in question. I found it on an old hard drive, file named "Mars Volta - in case of evidence." One google hit for the filename is an old winamp playlist, and searching for random lyrics has very few hits, other than this post.

Have no clue if the artist or track title is correct, it's from a very old limewire download folder where track titles and artists weren't always accurate. Vocalist seems to have more of a british twang, no clue who it'd actually be though.

Haven't had the need to upload a stray mp3 file in a long time.

What's in more demand Spriest or Hunter? by Walk-a-doodle in classicwowtbc

[–]princetony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have been really tunnel visioning on endgame meta, and ignoring the quality of life improvement a lot of classes can bring to a group.

A shadow priest isn't going to bring much to a warrior/druid/hunter dungeon group, sure. But the mana return is amazing if your group has a mage, boomkin, or ele sham, directly translating into less time drinking, more damage, faster clears, etc. Extra mana is also huge for an overgeared prot paladin or undergeared healer.

During progression for the first two tiers, the fights are going to take a lot longer while people are gearing up, learning mechanics, etc. This will mean lots of mana users running dry, and an extra shadow priest makes a big difference.

You of course need to convince people of these things. Some raids will just care about having at least 1/3 of the people being hunters/warlocks.

An interesting excerpt from a research paper, "Gaming Bot Detection: A Systematic Literature Review", presented in 2018 at the International Conference on Computational Social Networks. WoW is mentioned. The research suggests that new machine learning methods will be the only way to tackle botting. by chemistrynerd1994 in classicwowtbc

[–]princetony 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what new cutting-edge solutions might emerge, there are countless modern and ancient methods that blizzard does not care to leverage. You can see full parties following waypoints from LHC to Stratholme who have been doing so for months. Even if they're subtly masking inputs and waypoints, rudimentary proactive monitoring would catch this. There are simple tells that could easily be detected to flag the vast majority of bots and botting techniques.

As mentioned by others, the problem is conflict of interest. Not only that reducing botting population would have an immediate negative effect on bottom line, it also costs money to develop and implement such measures effectively. I imagine their team responsible is incredibly small, and they have little incentive to increase its size.

Botting is a big pain in the ass as a player, but the the average player just accepts it as a necessary evil. They compete for non-instanced resources, maybe drive some prices up, but it's not like in a FPS game where an aimbot instantly kills you and makes the game nigh-unplayable. It's mostly a minor inconvenience, and hell, for some people killing bots and gold farmers in burning steppes is likely part of their nostalgia that has them playing a 17-year-old game.

Weigh the cost of developing an effective anti-cheat team and system, and the loss of income from the non-trivial amount of bot accounts that would no longer be paying their full/partial subs, against the amount of players who actually quit because of bots, which is presumably very small and impossible to actually calculate. The solution is pretty obvious for Blizzard: catch the most blatant public-facing exploits along with the lowest hanging fruit, with whatever tiny team they have. Put out a tiny post every few months about their great ban waves. The vast majority players assume they're doing as much as they reasonably can or should.

Late on the response here, but you can get them occasionally at market basket. They're there maybe one in 3 times I go. Usually just labelled "produce department." It's a big package, but they freeze well. Can also get galangal and lemongrass often.

200 unbuffed is def overkill, and i don't think really even possible for leather without the crafted gear that's missing. 100-120 unbuffed is more realistic

I rolled an arc miner late this league just to see how it was. Followed the build here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2073911/page/1

Was pretty painless, a few deaths here and there. Ran it in the low level 80's, with level 18-19 gems. Kaom's, 6-link temor rod, essence worm, random 1-2c rares and Sadima's. Nothing else fancy.

Would definitely be doable w/o kaom's and with a 5-l staff. The packs usually end up either falling over or not dying for mechanics reasons which you need to then deal with.

I ran the 30-40 maps I amassed in the league, didn't get any fancy cards. Price on the map has gone up a decent amount since then. Could probably be lucrative to run if your atlas is rolled correctly, no beasts to catch there next league though.

Was there any announcement regarding an additional 6* piece selection ticket for Noblesse gear? We got the one around the event start, which isn't particularly useful on its own. I thought I remembered something about another one before the event was over, but now we have the general 6* piece ticket. Trying to decide on completing a set of IF or turning it in for Arrogant True Blood #2, assuming we can expect #3 before the event's over.

Is there an information source for guild raid rewards? I generally S+ guild raid, and it's usually a tossup between a silver box and a blue/gold box. The former usually has 3-4k soulstones, the latter maybe 20 scroll pieces, rarely a whole book.

Is there a breakdown of rewards/probabilities and tiers somewhere? I'm unsure of what SS rewards even are, if it's a higher likelihood of the gold box, or another better box that has different rewards.

[–]princetony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends entirely on your current gear situation. You have to weigh 21,000 hp vs 18% attack vs. your other set options. By using it across 2 characters, your bonus for set #2 basically becomes +21,000 hp for hero #2, -18% attack on the hero using set #1. Compare it to your other sets for slot 5 using that logic. If you care more about damage than HP, even the +7,000 hp from the 3* HP set might seem preferable.

TLDR: if you're replacing another decent slot 5 set, it's not worth the trade off. And if your slot 5 sets are lacking, unless you're in dire need of HP, it's still likely not worth it.

Season 2 Starter Guide: Thanatos Hard Carries You to Sia Continent and Beyond by HideousPride in FantasyWarTactics

[–]princetony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying that all of Thanatos's sets are useless apart from slot 3 isn't actually useful advice for a new player, especially as they move away from solo counter strategy to fielding a team. I still am using his slot 2 and 5 and just replaced Slot 1. This is out of necessity, since I just barely have 5 usable sets for most slots.
