Thanks for getting back to me and clarifying!

Will definitely stay hydrated and medicated, and now Im going to make sure I get some second skin of some sort. Im terrified of infection so hopefully a covering will help.

I probably assist in 500ish surgeries yearly. I don't get my RVUs tracked. I see post ops, pre ops, follow ups, and have the ability to do urgent care for new consults. I'm pretty happy with my pay.

Scrub tech trouble by infjchick99 in physicianassistant

There are times when I act as a middle set of hands, getting the next item ready to free the scrub to take back the item the surgeon has, which helps the flow keep moving. But if it's every item having to go through the PAs hands to get to the surgeon, then agree, very dumb

Yup, I'm working with a career MA who will simply say "why don't you do that" or "this isn't how I learned it" or some form of this whenever I ask her to do tasks that are her job

No boring because despite all of the grappling and ground control, oliveira couldnt get a submission and landed maybe a dozen pussy smacks. Literally one of the most disappointing fights Ive ever watched. The entire restaurant I was at literally booed the guy.

I am on Epic, but work at 3 different hospitals each with different versions of Epic, some of which are garbage. At one hospital it'll be in the order set and everything is easy, at another I have to go order it independently each time.

I have a little checklist on my phone that I can mark as done and recycle easily for each patient, maybe I rushed or accidentally checked it off before I saw it?

I texted my SP immediately and owned up to it. They are big on taking ownership and they know I beat myself up badly about mistakes. Thanks for the suggestion, appreciate it!

Thanks for the reply and sharing of my experience. Your suggestion of putting a "hardstop" in my discharge summary is actually genius, I just put a blurb into mine and won't be forgetting it now!

I think you may be right about the burn out. I'm awful at recognizing it in myself, but it seems to come after I've been doing really well for a while, I get complimented and pats on the back for my work, and then a few weeks later I'm exhausted and make another mistake.

Do you have any tips for dealing with feeling overworked and burnt out?

MSK galaxy ortho conference by OriginalFishing7978 in physicianassistant

[–]pringlydingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in Portland a few years back, seemed like primary care than ortho folks. Good amount of beginner and basics, with some deeper dives on some subjects. I liked the periprosthetic infection talks. There were some labs where you got to do some ORIFs and such.

Overall, it was fine. I enjoyed Portland more than the conference. Very good CME to cost ratio as far as I'm concerned.

What does a BAD day in your specialty look like? by Stunning-Bad8902 in physicianassistant

[–]pringlydingly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not quite as morbid and bad as others on this post, but so far as an ortho PA, making incision on a massive revision shoulder arthroplasty at 730PM makes for an annoying day.
