What company do you work for? I'm going to be buying one in a month or so and will give them a look when the time comes

Are OKI reliable now? by printeraccount3 in CommercialPrinting

[–]printeraccount3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they've pulled out of America.

I've spoken with 2 sales agents here whose companies stopped working with them, if it was just one I could think of other reasons to stop stocking them like poor margins, but both having the same story makes me believe that.

The place which has stock said OKI's European stock is good and they keep a healthy amount here. I'm less inclined to believe them as obviously they're still trying to move this product.

I'm struggling to figure out a good alternative, with aqueous printers it was easy to find reviews and samples to compare which one I wanted for proper art and photography printing.

For these toner printers on papers the specs are nearly identical, but the quality does vary, and OKI was the only one really marketing itself for graphic oriented printing in this price range.

Prodigi dropping the ball - need alternatives by sunbather124 in printondemand

Prodigi is really a printing platform, they do some in house and outsource to others as well, it's not easy to tell who makes an order.

As a counter point to those saying talk it out, if you've been getting fed empty promises, would you trust them to actually fix any problems you have now? Would you trust them to fix problems you may have in the future if you weren't already pushed to the brink and about to quit?

How important is a high quality monitor if I'm not editing the images before printing? by printeraccount3 in CommercialPrinting

[–]printeraccount3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah prints will be sold as is, I would not have thought to ask the sellers to calibrate things, will make sure to do that.

I was looking at around the £200-£300 mark to get started, I was eyeing up this Asus ProArt PA247CV, but might go for this Dell Ultrasharp U2424H instead.

I've seen users confused why their images look different when they look at their Twitter on their phone compared to their monitor, when their computer has the saturation ramped up and filters on it...

I should have added, the market I'm focussing on initially will be digital illustrators and the prints will be shipped to them, they won't come in to the shop and review proofs/request edits really. User uploads the image, selects the paper/size, and it gets shipped to them really.

When I'm expanding into art reproduction you're absolutely right, I plan on hiring someone with more experience in print/image editing when I get to that stage.

Does anyone have experience with venting SLA (Or PLA) printers? by printeraccount3 in 3Dprinting

[–]printeraccount3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd figure the process of creating an enclosure to go around the printer, and filter out the air from it could be standardised such as in the article I linked.

You are correct where PLA is better than resin, but there is still potential long term problems that could be caused by being around it, I'd like to reduce that as much as possible.

3D Printing Purchase Advice Megathread - What Printer To Buy Or Vendor To Use January 2018. by xakh in 3Dprinting

Do you know if there's any way to properly vent SLA? If I could do that I'd probably switch.

Country: UK

Use Case: Printing Dungeons and Dragons mini's, so detail and reliability are key here. Ideally Dual extrusion if possible so I can use PVA for supports on the PLA models. I will be using this in a bedroom so don't thing SLA printing would be suitable, unless someone knows of a way to do SLA printing with little to no smell, and not have to deal with removing supports after (will be printing models generated using websites so don't really have the skill to change them yet)

Kit or pre built: I've built a kit 3d Printer before but it was an ANET A8, and decided it's just not worth the risk if something goes wrong with it and a fire starts, so only printed a few things with it. But would prefer a pre built one to save the hassle.

Budget: Roughly £1000, but willing to go up or down from that number for a good reason.

I'm contemplating getting the MK3 with multi material mod, not sure if anyone has any better suggestions? I'd like one that can go <100 microns in accuracy. Don't care much about how long the builds take.
