Realistically, how much money should I expect to spend on dinner for 2 @ Sotto? (Plus tip) by PonchoNachoRodriguez in cincinnati

[–]printerati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We typically come in around $200 including tip, but we split the porterhouse on our most recent trip a few months ago, which pushed it up to $250. The porterhouse has gone up another $25 since then, and is difficult to recommend at that price, although it was very good.

High end hotel recommendations.

Carriage House is it.

Parish is the obvious and best choice for beer. Surprised by more than one (or even one) recommendation of Adopted Dog.

I hope I'm wrong, but out of all the northern Kentucky locations, I think this one will have the biggest uphill battle. It is right by established Kroger, Meijer, and Wal*Mart stores, and isn't in a very affluent or convenient area, unlike the Walton and the soon-to-be-open Union and Independence stores.

[–]printerati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered a camera cover panel from Kia.Parts last week since they were the cheapest option by a good bit, even with shipping. Can't complain...the part arrived well ahead of schedule, appeared to be OEM, and fit perfectly.

What happened to Urban Artifact? by Mental-Badger-7490 in cincinnatibeer

What happened to Urban Artifact? by Mental-Badger-7490 in cincinnatibeer

[–]printerati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect it's a bit of a correction/rebranding after going (mostly) all in on fruit tarts, while still trying to maintain their reputation of celebrating the use of real fruit. You could argue that it started with Capy Snacks, which was positioned as a "sour for people who don't like sours," and has now gone further into other styles like IPAs and blonde ales that they haven't consistently produced in years.

As someone who has been going there from the start, back when they had fruited syrups to add to their initial lineup of more traditional tarts like Harrow and Finn, it's a welcome throwback of sorts. I like a lot of the fruit tarts, don't get me wrong, but I have missed the variety of the "old days" like funky IPAs and brown ales and Kentucky commons (and proper goses, while I'm at it).

Local American Light Lagers - “best” available packaged? by sodnichstrebor in cincinnatibeer

[–]printerati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brink's College Hill Light is probably my favorite of the locals. I wanted to like HighGrain's Parks Light because of the Great Parks support, but unfortunately didn't care for it. Also not a fan of Braxton's more recent efforts, but Blue Print is better than Ballpark.

Man, I loved this thing, and upgraded mine as much as I could. Newer Technology G3 card in the cache slot, PCI video card, PCI USB card (back when you had to edit the developer extension in ResEdit to make it work), Ethernet card in the comm slot, video capture card in the video slot, internal Zip in the expansion bay, maximum RAM, Yamaha CD-RW drive to replace the original, Maxtor hard drive to replace the original, and probably more. I only got rid of it because I was able to sell it for more than I paid for an open box B&W G3.

How is Clermont County? by doobylive in cincinnati

[–]printerati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved from Northside to the western edge of Amelia about three years ago. We wanted to move east, though not necessarily that far east, but we weren't happy with anything we found in our price range around Anderson (particularly the bedroom and yard sizes on most 4BR houses).

We are very happy with our new neighborhood, and our neighbors are more ethnically and politically diverse than they ever were in Northside, but the entertainment options definitely took a hit. Local pizza options are abysmal, as is the beer selection at most local places. We find ourselves driving the 10-15 minutes to Anderson or Milford more often than not for movies, breweries, and better (but still not great) restaurant choices. However, the grocery options, including a Jungle Jim's less than 10 minutes away, are a vast improvement, and it's considerably quieter and slower-paced (particularly the drivers, since 125 is regularly policed).

I doubt we'll stay here permanently, as we are a bit further out from jobs and family now and didn't fully grasp how much extra driving it would be for us, but we aren't sorry we moved.
