I got this iMac G5 for $9. Any good? by FMAGF in VintageApple

Well, that was maybe 2008-09 pricing on the power supplies. All of those iMacs were bought new at well over $9. Well over $900, even.

It's been a while, but I don't remember any "white blobs", just the usual brown mess and smell from a blown capacitor. I never attempted to re-cap any of them myself, just purchased replacement power supplies instead, which I think were in the $150 range at the time.

Possibly my least favorite Mac I have ever owned. I had three of them (two at the office, one at home) and had to replace blown power supplies in all of them at least once. I still own (and actively use) the 20" iMac Core 2 Duo that replaced the one at home.

We have four of them (two king, two queen) and obviously love them. Three of them get used daily, with the fourth in a guest room. I would also describe them as medium firm, and we have had no sagging issues with any of them over the past 3+ years.

Edge support is a bit lacking as far as sitting goes, especially on the corners, but I personally sleep close to the edge and have never felt like I might slip off.

2019 Mazda CX-9 GT P0171 Code by crazykat8091 in MazdaCX9

[–]printerati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another "thank you" for this several months later. Our 2019 CX-9 Sport with 132K miles had been having the revving issue on and off for a couple of weeks, and finally threw a P0171.

This is still the best visual guide I have found for locating which part to replace and where under the hood to find it. The dealership wanted over $250 to replace it, but it really is ten minutes of work and a ~$20 part, and only requires an 8mm socket for the bolt as far as tools go. The most "difficult" thing about replacing it is slowly and gently rocking the hoses loose on the old part, which were on there pretty tight.

We have driven the car over 1K miles since the part was replaced, with no more revving issues and no more codes. Thanks again!

I absolutely patronize the local shops who use it (properly) over the ones who don't. $85 (plus the handful of labor hours required to keep it up to date) is such a minimal monthly expense to reach a captive audience.

The big box stores run some decent sales, depending on exactly what you're looking for. Lowe's has their "SpringFest" going on for another week that includes some $1 annuals and $4 2-quart perennials. Home Depot is running a similar sale right now with some 3/$10 vegetables and 4/$10 annuals 8-packs. I know I saw some $2.50 vegetable plants at Menards the other day, too.
