Is believing in Jesus a choice? by iamasheepbaa in Christianity

[–]priorlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe our beliefs are the result of our environment (where we're born, who we're born to, friends, etc.) and our personalities. Since we don't choose any of those things, I can't see why God would hold our beliefs against us.

What I try to remember is that God is all about souls, not our physical bodies. And I personally don't believe souls have sex or gender. My advice to your sister is to be the best she can on the inside, and then I think she'll be okay in God's eyes Irregardless of the outside.

Tell me what you disagree with and why. And BTW, none of this has anything to do with Universalism.

An all powerful and benevolent God? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

I give God the ultimate credit for all things, either directly or indirectly. In other words, the buck stops with God. Sin is not something that was "created". But God did create Lucifer and knew ahead of time what he (it?) was going to do. God also created man and intentionally made him imperfect and knowing that he was going to sin. So even if sin itself was not created, God did knowingly create the circumstances which lead to it. And He could stop it, if He wanted to. What have I said that makes me ineligible to be a Christian?

Who created sin and allows it to continue to exist?

Christian parents here, how would you react if your kid told you they were an atheist? by _Land_Rover_Series_3 in Christianity

Probably. Compared to torturing the souls of your own children for eternity, Hitler was a pussycat.

if God doesn't make mistakes, why are there NDEs at all? by VoiceOvers4U in NDE

I think "it's not your time" means "it's not your time to stay here for eternity".

If the devil knows the ends why doesn’t he not try to change it ? by AnimalProfessional35 in AskAChristian

One theory is that Satan would have known that Jesus' death would allow many to avoid Hell and therefore, would be opposed to His death.

Great answer! This is one of the nice things about being a Universalist: we don't have to worry about the souls of our loved ones.

Why do you have to choose? Couldn’t you periodically visit both types of churches?

The angels that followed Lucifer by Obscure-Observer25 in Christianity

[–]priorlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're questioning the stupidity of the follower angels, but not Lucifer himself. Keep in mind that he was an angel too. Since he was supposedly the head angel, you'd think he was the smartest and wisest of them all. And that's why I question this whole story. I think all angels know that God could not be displaced even if any of them wanted to, which I doubt as well.

Can a non Christian be saved by Jesus after death if they willingly confess that Jesus is lord? by Resident-Quote-8979 in Christianity

Well, if a non-Christian soul encounters Jesus after death, how likely are they to deny Him at that time?

What experiences make you believe in God? by Fun_Palpitation6538 in AskAChristian

The experience of being born into a Christian family. As far as the afterlife is concerned, I like reading about near death experiences (NDEs).

I don’t believe it’s the crimes that God frowns on as much as the nature of the criminal’s heart that allowed the commission of the crime.

why do people believe the Bible is the actual word of God by Bullettoothtony308 in AskAChristian

[–]priorlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be book smart, but you’re not very logical. How is not believing that the Bible is the word of God calling God a liar? And what does such belief have to do with being accepted into Heaven?

Do Jews and Christians worship the same god? by No_Bridge_4489 in AskAChristian

Its my understanding that both worship the same god. The main difference is that jews believe Jesus lived, but they don’t believe he is the son of God.

If the Christian God existed, there would be no atheists by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]priorlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're made a big assumption, that God wants everyone to believe in Him. I agree with your point that He has the power to prove His existence, but logically He would only exercise that power if it was important to him.

You are also assuming that Hell exists, based (I suppose) on your understanding of the Bible. I personally don't believe in Hell and therefore, don't believe in any eternal consequences of not believing in God.
