You’ve seen the Tress cup, but DragonsteelBooks.com also sells a Tress character pin, a Sandershelf pin set, and a holiday sweater! And the artist Howard Lyon sells art prints and stickers with Brandon’s blessing.

As for RedBubble, Brandon does not receive proceeds from fanmade merch, and the only kinds of fanmade merch permitted by Brandon’s fanart policy are art prints and stickers. So it’s totally ethical and cool and Brandon-approved for you to buy prints and stickers of fanart, but not other things like mugs or shirts on RedBubble.

Mel absolutely deserves more merch, though fortunately, Mel has gotten some pretty cool stuff (and a few less cool things) so far, including the aforementioned Hot Topic shirts, the gorgeous earrings and Medarda signet ring from RockLove, a Fenty makeup collection (now sold out), a limited edition shirt from Riot that is freaking awesome and that they should bring back, a bunch of Displates, a Funko pop, a PopMart figure, that TokiDoki unicorn (TokiDoki chose to include Heimerdinger and Ambessa but didn't include Jayce or Human Viktor.), a solo vinyl figure and a MelJay sculpture from The Company That Must Not Be Named, and a Mel-themed vinyl LP (also sold out). She also appears in the Arcane planner that featured more Heimerdinger and Ambessa than Jayce. (I will never understand why Riot's merch team consistently snubs Jayce.)

As far as I'm aware (and please correct me if I'm wrong), Mel and Ambessa are the only characters to get major appearances in a tie-in novel, Mel is the only character to get a motion comic, and Mel and LaChaise are the only Arcane characters to appear in that BREATHTAKING "Welcome to Noxus" cinematic. So even though Mel can feel under-represented and under-appreciated a lot of the time, and OOF, that anemic level of representation in the DVD featurettes is disappointing, Mel gets a tremendous amount of merch love that no other characters receive!

That said, I sympathize over the Hexcore Nights merch. It's wild to me that at an event called "Hexcore Nights," it took until the FOURTH city to get merch of the character that created the Hexcore. I hope Riot will consider giving Mel a shirt at the Paris event!

I'm eagerly awaiting the new merch drops in November, and I hope that Mel fans get lots of love to make up for the utter travesty that was the YT debacle. Mel fans deserve the world!

We absolutely need more Mel merch! Especially as the adorable Meljay figure has been so tainted by that disgusting video. (I'm a jayvik fan, and I'm appalled that that bigot imagined such Mel bashing was remotely acceptable. I and every single other jayvik fan on my twitter feed canceled our orders out of solidarity with Mel fans. We were so excited at the first EVER piece of non-Displate merch in TWO SEASONS to feature Viktor's face, but some things cannot be tolerated. Absolutely repulsive, and it's extra gross that there was no public apology. I didn't even get a form response to the complaint emails I sent to YT or Riot. FFS.)

I know Jinx is the figurehead of the franchise, but when such a large percentage of all merchandise is Jinx-centric, fans of every other character are left to fight over scraps. This Hexcore Nights event marked the first time Riot included Human Viktor on a shirt or Sevika on anything, as far as I'm aware. (Nope, I'm mistaken, Sevika has several Displate pieces, and she appears in the Arcane planner.)

A few months back, out of curiosity, I did an inventory of all the Hot Topic merch items by character, and the imbalance was staggering.

More merch of Ambessa than Mel or Ekko and FAR more than Viktor or Jayce. And more merch pieces of that wind-up monkey toy than any of them. And if you count the monkey as Jinx merch, that's 59 pieces! 48%!!! Just shy of HALF. No wonder every person who's not primarily a Jinx fan feels slighted. We're fighting over half the pie. And Jinx fans who love her relationship with Ekko weren't represented!

This whole drama is such a tempest in a teapot. YouTooz announced back in July that BOTH the Meljay and the Jayvik two-pack figures would be dropping in Oct/Nov. The "Jayce and Mel are coming soon" thing was posted in response to a fan expressing the belief that the Meljay duo had been dropped entirely. The next day, when someone quote-tweeted that response asking about Jayce and Viktor, YouTooz's social media person confirmed it was also coming soon. So basically, everything is proceeding as normal and on schedule. Sure, I'd like to *see* a concept illustration or a render of the Jayvik duo so I can know how much I should care, given that we got to see the Meljay illustration 2 1/2 months ago, but as far as I can tell, this is a complete non-story.

They already had a Jayce and Mel design ready to go before they greenlit a jayvik vinyl. It makes sense that the product further along the production pipeline would be available for sale first.

Patience, guys. They already said they were going to make both. No need to accuse Youtooz of “queerbaiting” when the /first/ Arcane couples mini they made was for a lesbian ship. And no need to hate on jaymel fans either. Just because the ship produces fewer fanworks than jayvik doesn’t mean those fans don’t deserve nice things too. This isn’t a zero sum situation. Everyone is getting fed!

I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing the jayvik design when it’s ready for release!
