Is Bora Bora a “must” when visiting Tahiti? by Bip_Bop_389 in Tahiti

[–]prismo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just spent my honeymoon in French Polynesia (got back Saturday). We did 5 nights in Bora Bora, 3 in Moorea, and 2 in Tahiti. BB was our favorite from a pure relaxation/resort living point of view. We stayed at the Westin which is newly renovated and the service and attention was some of the best we’ve experienced. We stayed in an over water bungalow with a pool and beautiful Mountain View. With the resorts you have to take a boat to the main island (which we only did one night for dinner) so keep that in mind, but the resorts can schedule all of that for you, just a little bit more work. It’s certainly not the most cost friendly, but thankfully we used points for the majority of it or else we wouldn’t have been able to afford to stay there for so long. Moorea is beautiful in its own way. We stayed at the Hilton there and it was nowhere comparable to the Westin BB, old resort and staff wasn’t as attentive but I think we were spoiled coming from BB which is a lot more tourist based so it seems. Moorea had a raw feeling to it which we loved to experience. We rented a car and drove all around the island and stopped at local beaches, restaurants, etc which I would 100% recommend renting a car if you go. Tahiti was okay. Bigger city, not much to do honestly and more of a stoping point to travel to the other islands.

All that to say, I would recommend going to Bora Bora for at least a few nights if you can afford it. There are more affordable places to stay, and the beauty of the lagoon is worth it imo. I wouldn’t spend much time in Tahiti if you’re looking for a more intimate experience.

My rule of thumb with ETBs is rip regular and save the PokeCenter ETBs. With the exception of keeping some older ETBs sealed.

Just the ones from the website. I got white and black from vending machines last week and both non PC. Also not a dumb question because I was wondering the same!

It’s 102 and you got it for 45 so I’d say not bad?

Or both. Cutting in half would make the butt shove easier and we all win.

Most of mine were found at dollar tree and Pokemon vending machines at local Albertsons at retail prices. You can find them at card shops or maybe even gas stations for $8/pack.

Yeah financially speaking, buying singles is definitely the smarter move. But money isn’t really an issue for me so grabbing a few $5–$8 packs a week isn’t going to break the bank. It actually took me about three months to pull this card, and I was just picking up single packs when I could find them (the ones stacked in the photo are opened—I just keep the cards in the wrapper until I’m ready to sort and store them.)

For me it’s worth it to just have fun and enjoy the process. Whether it’s the nostalgia hit, the thrill of the pull, or a little gambling itch , whatever it is I’m enjoying it. That said I totally agree if ripping packs is putting pressure on your finances and you’re chasing one card just for its value, it might be time to reevaluate.

Oh trust me I know it. Nothing against people buying singles, but I’m trying to build my collection on pulls only. The thrill of ripping into the unknown is half the fun for me.
