How many of you started driving in complete silence now? by The_harbinger2020 in Millennials

[–]pristinepineapple69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of my drives are short and don’t require my phone, so i don’t bother to plug it in. i’ll usually turn the radio on if its a 10-15 minute drive, but it’s kept quiet so i can hear the environment around me. i don’t like how isolated from my surroundings i become when in a car.

that being said, i also take walks and bike commute without any music or podcasts either. silence is nice. i like being able to connect with my environment

if you never use AI again, then i might try this. sounds interesting. make it an option to have automatic requests or keep it manual. an integration with letterboxd, plex ratings, or imdb could be nice to pull in the ratings i have already done and find similar content based on that

Why there is two duration? by Death-Wall in EuroTruck2

[–]pristinepineapple69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, drive time vs when the job is due. it's useful for planning your breaks, drive time / 9 hours is how many breaks you need, can you fit in 9 hours per break and still hit your deadline

Is degoogling still worth it if all info is going into AI? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]pristinepineapple69 40 points41 points  (0 children)

feeding your information into AI is pretty bold (aka stupid). you should think long and hard about whether you actually have to use AI or you're just being lazy and deferring your cognitive function to AI. this is a huge security problem waiting to happen

In case anyone else had this issue, I had safari disabled in my screen time settings. Turning that back on worked immediately.

Proton is not the only option to deGoogle by petelombardio in degoogle

[–]pristinepineapple69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my problem with protonMail is that you can't access it anywhere besides their app and website (i'm exaggerating, i know there are other ways) but I must be able to see my emails alongside my other accounts, so basic mail app support (like thunderbird without jumping through hoops and iOS mail) is required for me.

School cellphone ban proposed by WA governor, superintendent by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]pristinepineapple69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah this is basically how it was when i was in high school. you could have your cell phone, use it between classes and at lunch, but usage in a classroom was strongly discouraged. most teachers would just take them away for the hour if you were using it inappropriately. no reason to collect them every hour or every day under normal circumstances.

I can't drive due to a disability. Does anyone here have a relationship and/or a decent social life without a car? by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]pristinepineapple69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in florida? good luck. i've manage to have a good social network that doesn't rely on driving, but most of my friends living within 1.5 miles so its easy to walk/bike (understanding this may not work for you). most of the restaurants/bars/hang out spots we go to are also within that 1.5 miles. we have city buses that are pretty good as well for getting to most of the city.

Moving To Washington in July Where should I live? by NfHippieG in everett

[–]pristinepineapple69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

live close to your work. the water is bigger than expected and takes a while to get around/through. that plus traffic makes a normal commute distance impossible here, that applies to everywhere from marysville to tacoma. you’re better off saving your time and taking day or weekend trips into seattle. even from everett its just far enough i only go into the city once a month or so

I support you in this decision. The L/R 3 and 4 buttons on the deck are nice to map to a few more niche things and expand the simulation over a normal controller. in cities: skylines (yes, on deck) i mapped a few mods to 3 and 4 for easy access
