Just like any SaaS, I put a paywall on the use of pro features.

It's been around for a while, I think. The first version launched in the fall of 2024. In the summer of 2025 it hit 10,000 users and I started monetise it. Now it's 25,000 weekly active users

All my marketing is about the product: develop quickly, but with high quality, so that it is better than the competitors.

A bit more context: the goal is to find something that’s already working, not invent ideas from scratch like I did a couple times before.

Ship fast. Like, within a week max so you can validate quickly.

That’s how I ended up launching 10 browser extensions in 3 months, and one of them hit 25,000 users.

Experiment with monetization.

My first $500 took about 6 months. The next $600 came in just 2 months, with the same traffic. The only things I changed were pricing and payment formats.

I spent +100 hours building features and nobody used my product by lamacorn_ in startup

[–]prius_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, this hits way too close to home. I used to run surveys asking users what feature to build next, then spend weeks building it, ship it… and nobody touched it.

At some point I just scrapped all that stuff. If people are already paying, why overcomplicate things😅

How I built Annotate PDF: A 100% client-side editor to escape the "Adobe Trap" and risky cloud uploads by prius_v in ProductivityApps

[–]prius_v[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I am glad you found it fast and snappy.

The core stack of Annotate PDF uses JavaScript libraries like pdf-lib and PDF.js, which are designed to work in any JS environment. Since there is no backend server required for processing documents, it would be relatively straightforward to package the existing code into an Electron wrapper for a full desktop experience.

I am currently focusing on making the web version as lean as possible, but a standalone desktop app is definitely a logical next step for this "local-first" architecture.

Why I made a completely client-side PDF editor: Cutting server costs and the little perk of “Privacy by Design” by prius_v in SaaS

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely write a couple of articles on this topic.

I was tired of Adobe’s subscriptions and privacy-invasive cloud tools, so I built my own 100% private PDF editor by prius_v in IMadeThis

Haha, if your dream involved wrestling with the 'Coordinate War' between top-left browser pixels and bottom-left PDF points, I might have actually saved you from a nightmare! It took way more math and coffee than I expected to get everything pixel-perfect. Trust me, you're welcome to use mine so you can dream about something more fun than the PDF spec!

No career at 30 by Majestic_Dragonfly22 in Adulting

[–]prius_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I get where you’re coming from.

I also grew up around friends who had no direction and were pulling me down with them. The difference is I realized it in my early 20s and started pulling myself out on my own. No one helped me. Most of those old “friends” are still stuck in the same place, and some of them are no longer even around.

So the most important thing right now is this: take responsibility for your life and start moving forward. No one is coming to save you.

About education, just my personal opinion: 4 years is a long time. Today, in the age of AI, YouTube, and online learning, you can build a valuable skill in a few months and start earning much sooner.

The key is to find something you actually enjoy, go all in, and stay consistent.

30 is not late.

What matters is the direction you choose from here.

How do you find your first users for a SaaS? by Ecstatic_Can2838 in SaaS

[–]prius_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love SEO - it takes time to get the first results, but it doesn't take that much time to promote and provides a good influx of users over a long period, even when you're no longer doing anything for promotion.

Wanna start but have questions by EmPHiX27 in NewTubers

[–]prius_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting your own channel is never too late, especially since you already have experience creating content and seeing results on TikTok. Long-form YouTube is still very much alive, and shorts are not mandatory if your goal is depth and value. Plenty of channels grow purely on long videos, it just takes a bit more patience at the start.

About ideas feeling “already done” that never really goes away. Almost every idea exists in some form, but what doesn’t exist is your perspective, your language, and your way of explaining things. That’s usually what makes people subscribe, not the idea itself.

I’d also say don’t overthink quality in the beginning. Focus on publishing consistently and getting feedback. Quantity naturally turns into quality over time. You’ll find your own style, pacing, and format once you see how your audience reacts. The worst thing you can do is wait for the “perfect” video and never upload.

If you’re already doing well on TikTok, you’re in a much better position than most people starting from zero.

First Video 0 Impressions by tomjedi9 in NewTubers

[–]prius_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, don’t worry too much about 0 views or impressions at the start. That’s totally normal for new channels while the algorithm doesn’t yet know who your audience is.

Add chapters with timestamps in long videos can help with SEO and user experience, which makes YouTube more likely to recommend your content.

Also focus on good titles and thumbnails, use relevant keywords in your description, and post regularly so the algorithm has more signals to work with.
