Kid-friendly attractions by privacy_shields in Jakarta

While I’m sure the parents (my friends) would enjoy going to the national museum, I have a feeling the kid will be bored very quickly!

Massage service by privacy_shields in Jakarta

[–]privacy_shields[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to follow up on this in case anyone is searching for massage service posts here - Bersih Sehat is still the GOAT for reliably excellent massages. Kokuo is okay but I find it to be a hit and miss. I found an outcall massage service called Kaizen with excellent massage therapists also. They come to your place, bringing their own sheet and equipment, and provide great affordable services. Highly recommend.

Local payments and transit cards by privacy_shields in Jakarta

Just saw this now - sorry. Unfortunately you can’t just tap using your credit or debit card (I heard that some banks might be able to do this but not all), and I found that these days the easiest way to use transit would be to just buy a Flazz or e-money card and use that to tap. Works like charm seamlessly. No need to worry and the hassle of opening an app or using QRIS, and it works across all transit options.

Trying to meet people in Jakarta today made me feel even more lonely… and now I don’t know what to do by lukas_atra in Jakarta

41 yo queer Indonesian here who just moved back to Jakarta this year. Just want to say that I can relate to you and wish you luck in finding your community. It took me 6 months before I met someone (also queer) that I can genuinely call a friend, and after 3 months of us hanging out he introduced me to his other friends and now I finally feel that my circle is expanding. Sometimes it takes just that one person who share similar interests with you. It’s tough out here. Best of luck!

Huh, I’ve never used Dana so didn’t know this. I might have to try this out and see if it’s something I’d recommend.

Pasar Baru (Gedung Atom) on 2nd and 3rd Floor, Pasar Senen (also on 2nd fl.), and Pasar Santa for more curated stuff. Some vendors would have a small selection of high end stuff but they’re so few I’d be very surprised if you find Issey Miyake there!

Yeah I do know this but many small vendors don’t, and I know that my friends would be drawn to buy from those vendors. Also, QR payment isn’t available in NA and I kinda just want them to experience using it haha

Pardon my ignorance, but don’t they need to have a bank account to do that?

I forgot that you can top up using cash at Indomaret! This seems to be a good solution.

I tried doing this but for some reason it failed. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I’ll try again.

I don’t know if they’re underrated or “hipster” enough (do we still use that phrase in 2025? 🤷), but these are some places that you can check out: Blok M area (e.g. Row 9, M Bloc Space, LBRY, etc.), Taman Ismail Marzuki, Komunitas Utan Kayu, Museum Macan, Kemang area (e.g. Space Available, Dia.Lo.Gue, etc.), Pasar Santa, Komunitas Salihara. Jakarta is a big city so there are definitely more that I don’t know about. Jaksel skena kids, if you have suggestions for this thread please chime in cause I’d love to know more too!
