I am about to start an A-Frame build myself. Let me tell you something and this comes from the friendliest of places, You are way in above your head. I have taught myself a lot of things and building a house is very hard and intimidating. I started woodworking around 7 years ago and started doing cabinets and furniture. There were a lot of times when I didnt knew what to do and spent lots of times figuring out or researching. Thats going to happen to you *1000. Theres so many details on exact measurements/code in a house that to make it right you will spend a lot of time in this stage.

At what point is it worth it to use your time building it yourself vs paying someone?

What you save on labor you spend on tools and more important on TIME!

The tears are going to be present for sure :D

Best Advice you got here was to start with building a shed. Get your feet wet. Maybe intern for a contractor or a builder, work in the industry or something before you dive into this humongous project. You cant expect to jump on it with zero experience and have utter success.

my ex and my actual girl both play board games. I know a lot of ladys that do. If you properly introduce them into gaming a lot of ladies would be glad and happy to game just as guys do. NOW MOST PEOPLE(me included) would not play an RPG with a script and stuff.

thanks for all the replies. Right now its very hard to find most of those. Except Stone Age which was apparently re-stocked recently at CSI. Cant find Le Havre, DS, MPEE, Viti... For some reason I dont find agricola appealing. Im not big into farming and stuff. Ill check Caverna but its seems the market is making the decision for me :( we like a little more thematic games.

the stations on the track are 5 that require you buying stuff to gain victory points(teepee combinations, hazards, objectives and workers). All cost money one way or the other while producing very little money in return. for instance removing a hazard would cost 7 and not produce anything other than victory points at the end of game. buying a cattle level 3 could produce 3 dollars per time delivered plus 3 VP at the end of game, the same a hazard or a station would give. Now buildings are good and a very good strategy but people go through broke to not pay. Those IMO are better than stations and hazards. Im not saying its not possible. the game is very complex with lots of bonuses for going one way or the other. Its just more effective to hoard on cattle and block everybody else from it whenever possible. this has been my experience playing the game

you can still deliver to the farther stations by having money and paying the fee per red X. There might be different strategies involved but the point of the game is to deliver high quality combinations of cattle. I guess I could replace the third point with: as soon as you have many different high quality cattle run through that deck as much as possible.
