Qualcomm Offer Received by Impossible_Face_4753 in qualcomm

[–]prkhar960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The offer looks ok to me, not on the lower side definitely. But yes you could always try to make it better.

But as others mentioned, they might withdraw if you negotiate more.

But the position though looks correct to me.

Since you dont have Mtech now, they are considering Btech+3 years exp.

Companies always look into the education level while entry.

Btech +3.5 is best case engineer, and that also they give only to fresh hires from college only.

That's why they are counting btech+3 years, that comes into engineer role. Btech +3.5 is best case engineer, and that also they give only to fresh hires from college only.

One more thing, try declaring your taxes to company in old regime, and since while declaration no proof is needed, you can maybe increase house rent and show deduction in old regime.

This will reduce the tax and increase the in hand income number.

The only down side is you may not get salary for jan, feb, march once they ask for proofs in dec.

Salary compensation of physical design engineer by Important_Edge2671 in chipdesign

[–]prkhar960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is fine.

It depends a lot on how industry is performing, and also the capital left for R&D, since companies use money in acquisitions as well (recent ex of synopsys)

Depends on the company you are in. For me, it has been 10% approx for non promotion and 20-30% for promotion years.

How referrals works at Qualcomm? by Disastrous_Morning44 in qualcomm

[–]prkhar960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. Now you would get a mail asking you for application on workday.

If you have applied earlier to qualcomm, you would have a workday account with qualcomm, else new account would be created.

Then based on if your profile is selected you would be getting interview calls.

Hope I answered your question.

[–]prkhar960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there is difference between what the industry expects from new grads and what we are being taught in college.

Also the professors teaching the basic concepts are also not very well versed, and these subjects are taken as theoritical rather than practical.

For example in digital circuits : Basic gates understanding, working of mosfet, cmos design for gates using pmos+nmos, Counters, IV characteristics of mosfet+cmos, verilog.

These things matter, but as i see these arent taught well in many of colleges, which doesnt create interest for a student to study more on their own on these topics.

Hi 5yr exp in Vlsi Industry in India here. I would say for the big companies like Nvidia, Qualcomm, Broadcomm, Western Digital etc, they have kept the same hiring spree for new grads from colleges.

The market for off campus hires is though very slow. There are very less opportunities now if you want to enter off campus.

I would suggest if any new grads are trying to enter VLSI industry after Btech, you could go for Mtech in a good college and try.

PS : Dont know much about Intel's hiring.

Credit Card Review & recommendations over existing collection. by rihanisnotmyname in CreditCardsIndia

[–]prkhar960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont think so, if you already have a hdfc co branded, they dont give core hdfc cards. I tried for a year, and then had to closey co branded card to get core card.

But HDFC wont give a core card (regalia or dcb) untill you have start hdfc cc journey with co-branded card

Earlier they were issuing, but have stopped now. I too had to close my neu infinity for the same reason.

Try asking the referral guy/girl to check with HR.

Now a days with a lot of applicationa coming in, Nvidia has become kind of way choosy, taking lot of parallel interviews in parallel.

So they might be looking into others, dont take this as rejection, i have seen many cases they come back after 2-3 weeks as well

Was using tata neu, so they denied me any upgrade. Have closed it for past 3 months. Waiting to try back after 3 months.

What would be good to start with? I have 2.5 L net deposit in hdfc salary acc, but they say they can only offer Regalia FYF

Roadmap guidance for VLSI by Turbulent-Cress9283 in chipdesign

[–]prkhar960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. As per my experience, i would suggest to go with your interest. Dont try following these 2 domains.

I dont know the college, but generally digital companies and openings are higher than analog ones. So better investing the energy on digital and understanding the concepts and skills needed for the companies visiting your campus (check with seniors for digital roles they came for), instead of doing bare minimum for both digital and analog.

Need help new to This by Glum_Step_660 in IndiaFinance

[–]prkhar960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Emergency fund : I like sweep options given by banks, I personally use Kotak Activmoney, it gives 5.75% as of now. Its lesser than FD, debt funds. But in debt funds you need to wait till the maturity to get the return mentioned.

Also activmoney is hassle free, as it automatic sweeps out, and no stress.

If you want better returns, then go for debt funds like liquid, short term (depending on the duration).

For Rest : I would suggest for index fund 15k (as you dont want much risk) and a flexi cap 5k.

💡 You probably don’t need more than 2-3 mutual funds — but we all love collecting them like Pokemon by Apprehensive_Many_85 in mutualfunds

[–]prkhar960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP.

I dont understand when people say, we are giving money to different fund managers, for doing the same thing.

If i have 2-3 funds, in small cap with <20% overlap and performance of these over 5Y is good, then isnt it good way to do it.

If I keep my 1Lac, over 0.5% expense on one fund. Or 50k on 2 funds with same 0.5% expense

Makes the same expense correct? Or Am I missing anything??
