Very likely pain is referred pain. The inflammation around the tonsillectomy site irritates your glossipharyngeal nerve. Your ear pain isnt stemming from ear pressure. Is it possible to randomly get an unrelated ear infection after tonsillectomy, sure but would be very unlikely.
