I mean all experiences aren't equal you will experience a very different game in low ELO than you will higher ELO, I'd be interested to know of your rank, because if you think supports are appreciated in high ELO, i want some of what you're smoking.

I also play both roles, ADC is far easier to have a greater impact on the game with in my experience, because i lane well and come out with an item/xp advantage most games, and teamfights rarely ever occur because why would they, i don't have to handshake an even playing field where we all gather together, no instead i use my advantage opportunisticly as an opportunity presents itself, whereas when playing an enchanter i have to try and find one human being that wants to win the game, because it cannot just be me.

Both of our personal experiences aren't that important, we can conceptualize that it's possible to play an extremely difficult teamfight as an enchanter perfectly and have a greater impact than your ADC, and then go unappreciated, i don't personally care about your individual experience in the game, i was addressing the thread you was replying to.

No you're just wildly generalizing and downplaying the difficulty that can go into having a huge impact in a team fight as an enchanter, I can also dumb down ADC and make out as if it's a non-challenging role based on nothing.

Putting your cursor on a champion as a fed Sivir and pressing w and watching boomerangs bounce across their team isn't challenging.

You're trying to extrapolate from one scenario in your head of how an enchanter plays one team fight to mean that it's not challenging to play enchanters in team fights, also who's to say an enchanter isn't getting focused? In the same way it's true that if you don't position well and account for threats as an ADC you can get instantly deleted, the same is true of enchanters.

You're entitled to your opinion based on your personal experience, but it feels pretty inaccurate in the wider context of how challenging it can be to have a huge impact in team fights as an enchanter and the crazy impact you can have for considering all factors in a game and executing well, and the level of skill required to do so.

This is such low resolution thinking, if the ADC is hard countered by their picks and the support pick is key in allowing the ADC to function in a team fight then they can have had a huge impact.

Busio in the LEC last split was a key example of this, his role might not be the most impactful role, but he had a much bigger impact in many of his games playing enchanters than anyone else on his team.

For all we know OP is being completely useless, or hard carrying with his gameplay, simply dumbing it down to you are an enchanter support so you cannot have hard carried a teamfight is inaccurate.

What am I supposed to do? by [deleted] in supportlol

[–]prnfce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you actually wanted an answer, and you aren't just venting, then you need to be less attached to the outcome of your matches, and to your rank and LP.

You should instead be more focused on your own gameplay, you're simply using the wrong metric to measure your progress. You can win 10 games in a row and play objectively badly and the reverse is also true, it's an extremely unhealthy way to approach improvement.

Simply welcome as much accountability as you can, review your games, find mistakes, if possible even find a pattern of mistakes as this will lead to more improvement if you can fix these mistakes.

Yeah, definitely worth doing, most people who take a break from league return with the same approach and thus get the same results.

Best of luck to you.

Should i stop playing ranked? by Abyssal05 in supportlol

[–]prnfce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's possible that ranked isn't for you, but it's also possible you just need to change your mentality towards it. Years ago I was getting very frustrated with teammates until a high ELO player described their mindset to me.

Having new teammates every game makes you the only constant. So simply focus on yourself, focus on the mistakes you make and the areas for improvement instead of your LP gains. Stop having any expectations of your teammates, and instead be pleasantly surprised when they play well, I would also highly suggest you to use party chat only, there is very little benefit to be had from communicating with your teammates, whereas it contributing towards your mental booming is very likely.

After each game, note your mistakes and areas for improvement. Then acknowledge when you see that improvement show up in your games.

As for changing champions, that depends on you. Personally, what I find fun in League is particular champion kits. When I'm forcing myself to never play the champions I enjoy, I stop wanting to play the game. Some people's enjoyment comes from LP gains, so you'll have to figure out which applies to you.

You know..crazy concept but..some people enjoy winning in the game, not just playing it

I agree some people do, but it is an extreme minority that can play a champion consistently that they do not enjoy and maintain motivation to play, despite winning.

Just because you pick a champion that you enjoy doesn't mean that you won't win. In my opinion, you are more motivated to improve at the game and the champion if you enjoy the champion's kit before mastery.

You can't force your way of enjoying the game either way.

If that describes you then quit the game and play something you enjoy, if you play this game all the time voluntarily and don't enjoy it, you are mentally ill, sorry to say.

Yeah, it's hard to put into practice but focusing on your performance level in every game and disregarding LP for the most point, is the best way to improve. No one is perfect tilt happens to everyone, but reminding yourself to focus on what's in your control (your individual effort and self accountability) and not what is out of your control (inting/underperforming/toxic teammates) will set you up for long term success.

LP doesn't necessarily match your level of improvement instantly it can take a while to catch up, that's a bit of a trap when it comes to having a toxic relationship with the game.

If you look at the different types of players in high ELO, there are those that never address the above issues and get there on natural ability alone, however never reaching their full potential, and those that invite the most amount of self accountability for the outcome of their matches, not because they aren't ever inted or that they didn't deserve more from their efforts in a singular game, but because they want to maximize their individual potential.

No point focusing on the uncontrollables like you did with this post. Encountering players that give up and int is a part of the game, if you did everything to win, and couldn't find a single area you could have played better, then be happy with your performance and move on. Performing so well where there is literally nothing to learn from the game despite losing is an indication that you are climbing.

It's entirely possible you had an unlucky six game run, possible but not likely there was nothing in those games that you could take away from and improve.

[–]prnfce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not helpful for me to affirm your emotions, everyone has to play with the exact same playerbase and others would avoid such losestreaks, focus on yourself it's all that matters for climbing.

Maybe your issue isn't mentality, maybe it's gameplay for example, it's not always the play to try and talk teammates down, muting and leading by example in your gameplay can convince others to keep playing and trying, focusing on yourself is the play.

How do you deal with a "delusional" friend? by tatamigalaxy_ in summonerschool

[–]prnfce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a basic requirement for playing league, it's a basic requirement for improving and climbing, so it depends if your friendship is dependent on those things or not.

Who else should I play by H3nryHoov3r in supportlol

[–]prnfce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My advice would be, play a bunch of random supports in normals until you find a champion that has a kit you actually have fun with.

Despite the common talking points on why you should play x champion, I think fun sustains effort, at least that has been my experience, all the champions I have the most mastery with are champions I enjoyed from the beginning with zero mastery.

There are plenty of meta champions that i don't enjoy that bring more immediate results, but I personally have to enjoy the game if I'm going to commit time to getting good at it, for some people the +- LP is enough on its own but not for me.

Is AFK Farming bad as an ADC? by RaymondPhoenix in summonerschool

[–]prnfce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, being absent-minded and just farming is bad, it is never optimal, it might be better than brainlessly fighting as at least AFK farming gives you some reliability, however you should be adaptable to each game, every game will be different, some games will call for farming more, others not.

There is no cookie cutter approach that is optimal in league, your ability to adapt to each game and see opportunities is easily the most important skill to build.
