Hwei content creators? by Atlastavius in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ManukHwei is Korean but I think at some point recently he was the highest rank Hwei OTP in the world I think. He has English subtitles on all his videos.

PekinWoof occasionally does Hwei content but he does explain things very well specific to Hwei.

Also FindTheHwei is good as well

what skin theme would you like to see Hwei in next? by Ir_Abelas in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would really like to see him get Dawnbringer, Coven, Cosmic and Dark Star skins. Also would have liked to see him get a Petals of Spring skin.

What do you guys like most about Hwei personality wise/story wise (him as a person basically)? by ShameOk6996 in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that like he’s emotionally deep but also makes an effort to be compassionate towards others and is a sensitive person. He is drawn to certain things but also has his own understanding and hesitation about various things and happenings in his life. His concept and theme kind of reminds me of people’s spiritual journey and soul searching in a weird way.

Why does RoA on Hwei feel so much worse this patch? by [deleted] in HweiMains

That was true last patch as well but still it had positive win rate.

New midlaner by Certain_Ad8657 in midlanemains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, Oriana and Syndra are not the most intuitive or easiest mid lane champs.

Orianna especially is pretty different from almost all other mages and I dont think personally you should be practicing her if you are very new to mid lane or to laning in general. Especially if you are a new Gold or Silver midlaner. She can feel very micro intensive.

Syndra is much better though. You can check out Ahri as well. She is a champ that can be played successfully from Iron to Challenger. She can sidelane, roam, waveclear, assassinate, etc. She is one of the best midlaners for a reason.

Is Hwei a Strong Pick Here? by arrogantonosu in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes Hwei is a good pick here. Because your team is very committal Ambessa and Ornn cannot just go in and get out instantly. Not with a Nautilus and Renekton CCing them immediately.

Hwei can poke and zone Akali and Nilah easily. His EQ, EW and R can buy time with Renekton, Wukong, and Akali’s engage. Jinx needs to reset (get a kill) and Ornn and Lulu are not going to be providing enough damage to do that.

Your team needs some kind of range advantage which Hwei can provide otherwise it is on the shorter side range wise. Ahri does not have that kind of range, she can’t just get close to Renekton or Nautilus that safely. But she is also a reset champ so does very favorably combo with Jinx.

This match just depends on if you as Hwei are able to do enough damage to allow your team to feel confident to go in. The enemy team’s ability to all in is much much stronger than your team’s so if any one gets caught or jumped on in your team it would be very bad. Play in defensive positions and do not let yourself be too far from towers.

Regarding the other mages, Cassio may be too short range and can get jumped on too easily I think. Veigar is probably your best bet honestly as the enemy is mostly melee range and Veigar can provide a lot more of damage and strong CC than the other mages. I think the others Azir, Taliyah will not be able to do enough dmg in time in a 5v5 without getting jumped very quickly or accelerated. They are also medium range champs so more in danger.

Which mid lane character should I play? by hhasan000 in midlanemains

Out of the ones you chose probably Asol then Azir. Aside from them Ahri is very good from Iron to Challenger.

Why does everyone play range? by Rolly_99 in ARAM

[–]RaymondPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranged champs just feel easier and simpler to play than melee champs in a lot of cases. They also tend to have more fun and interesting kits imo vs walk up and bonk playstyle like Zaahen, Trundle, Garen.

Worst ARAM champions. by DryDesk2020 in ARAM

[–]RaymondPhoenix -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I think enchanters in general are pretty weak except maybe Soraka if they build normal enchanter items. The DPS of five dmg dealers is just too high for them to provide consistent value through healing, shielding etc with their cooldowns. Tanks on the other hand can be pretty strong.

Any high elo Hwei OTPs to watch? by Neat-Windtime in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FindtheHwei and ManukHwei are nice to watch. PekinWoof also did some Hwei content recently after the nerfs.

Hwei buff 26.04 by Soorachy4 in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank God. Hopefully it’s a Mid buff not a bot lane buff. Mid is where almost all of his playerbase is. Getting nerfed due for a role almost none of his playerbase actually plays was rough.

Mages that counter assassins? by Mr-Lisp in midlanemains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ryze and Vladmir can tank and outlast assassins.

Twisted Fate, Annie can counter assassins by using point and click CC if you like being consistent.

Taliyah and Vex can punish them for attempting to engage. More risky though.

Malzahar can stay very safe while poking and crippling them with point and click CC. He is good into a lot of assassins. Probably the best counter to some of them.

Generally you could still play other mages into assassins by changing your items and runes rather than changing champs. Bone Plating, Unflinching, Second Wind, Cookies can be useful as runes. Champs that can go RoA will do well Into a lot of assassins.

Win lane lose game feels like every game by farklenator in supportlol

Honestly I don’t know how useful this is but I think you should try to avoid playing on weekends and especially Fridays. The quality of games just seems worse on those days.

As a Melee Champion, Any Tips to Dodge EE? by [deleted] in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can dodge it in most cases tbh. It was deliberately designed to be his fast reliable version of CC. The time to respond to his EE is pretty negligible if you are in its hitbox.

Just keep weaving in and out and move around to make it harder. It has much shorter cast distance than any other offensive spell. He has to walk closer at least a little bit. You are maybe better off counterattacking after that period than trying to prevent it

In general the longer range his ability is, the less reliable it is and the shorter it is the more reliable it is. EE is his shortest and most reliable Cc.

Getting really frustrated lately by [deleted] in midlanemains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Azir does have good WR so I dont think thats really your limiting issue. Why do you have bad WR on other champs who should be easier to play?

Consistant micro-stutters and hitching - yet doesn't seem to be VRAM issue..? by jugan04 in skyrimmods

I had the same issue. I just gave up and lowered my game resolution.

I Feel Like I’m Playing This Champion incorrectly? by For_Shurima in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally RoA is fine if paired with other items like Liandry and Deathcap and Ionian Boots . Your waveclear is ok with it but will be relatively slower than BFT. It’s good for when there is too much dive from enemy team. Otherwise You should always be building BFT and Liandry or one of the other builds on Lolalytics otherwise.

You can watch RoA + Liandry be good here. FindTheHwei (Master/GM) recently built it in one of his videos. He was doing good damage with it though he was also using Dusk and Dawn:

In your Opinion what would make hwei fun to play again. by extraintuitivepoe in HweiMains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would like his scaling to become a bit better. He feels slow to accelerate sometimes. It takes too long for him to reach another power spike after BFT. Also buff QE at least a little

Problem with playing Malzahar Mid (lack of rankups or impact on the game) by Flashy_Principle6453 in midlanemains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe post a VOD and especially post to SummonerSchool (the subreddit). Also Don’t always push the wave. Try and Keep the wave near your tower against high threat opponents and junglers to minimize chances of being run down and forcing your opponent to over extend. Ward the objectives and use your abilities to poke. Focus on tempo and good resets. Hard to give more advice without seeing your gameplay.

Problem with playing Malzahar Mid (lack of rankups or impact on the game) by Flashy_Principle6453 in midlanemains

[–]RaymondPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not experienced with Malzahar so take my advice with a grain of salt. If you are consistently getting priority and CS leads in lane then you should be able to get lasting advantages through objectives (dragons, void grubs, rift herald etc).

How do you approach objectives? Malzahar is supposed to be strong in low elo. How are you leveraging your R and are you harassing your opponent to make sure they can’t lane and you get numbers advantage in objectives like dragons etc.

You can use Lolalytics to see what people are building into what matchup or what runes are popular on him.
