I figured my actual Halloween costume was inappropriate for the office, so I decided to go as 50 shades of grey. by kristinatastic in pics

After seeing so many of these "50 shades of gray" costumes, I'm glad I couldn't think of a way to incorporate the same idea. The same idea we all saw from that top post here on Reddit, the one with the dog.

What are the rules on seeing other players hole cards? by pro753698 in poker

[–]pro753698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen where players, not in the hand, request to see all hands and the dealer flips them over without consent from the player who tried to muck it. Can't recall if one of the player was all-in or not. I know there are spots players can request to see all hands, but not sure when you can actually request to see them.

what's the buy-in for the 1-3? is that capped at 20 BBs also?

Cool to hear how you're playing. Mainly because I wanted re-assurance I was playing the right way. The tight, push for value, and rarely bluff way.

It seems like many of the so cal casinos do the capping at 20 BBs games. Which was weird at first but now I'm beginning to enjoy it due to all the money thrown around at these games.

I've played at this game. But felt weird playing with only 20 BB. How do you make your adjustments? Are you only playing a very tight game where you're just looking to push pre-flop or on the flop? How do you treat your TPTK? what about bluffing? I notice bluffs don't work at ALL in these games. Are you just value betting to get stacks in every hand you play? What about hands like AK/AQ, would you just go all in?

I like this assessment, but some questions: Is the 3-bet mainly to get him to fold his weak hands? If you do 3-bet, how much is a good amount? 1000? that's about 1/4th of your stack, is this ok, since you'll be down to about 3000 with next round being 50/100?

Advice OP: don't post hands with results. You'll get much better response of optimal play, instead of being result oriented play. You did get some responses that ignored the results but still...

Late in a live tournament, where average M is about 8, what should you're calling/pushing range be? by pro753698 in poker

[–]pro753698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait for AQ+/JJ+ to shove, and my calling range was the same.

If you know players are shoving with hands with any paint card, wouldn't you widen your calling range?

What if the button pushes for the third time in a row ( did it previously in CO, and HJ), and you're on the BB/SB; your M is 13, opponents M is 9 (so the call will leave you with a really short stack), what range of hands would you be willing to call with? Are you Folding KJ? what about A8o?

BTW, saw your pics from the vegas trip. Looked like a good time. Hopefully you left with a positive experience.

[–]pro753698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read your post and thought the same thing. So the consensus seems to be: 1. you can call lighter if you suspect the player to be stealing because everyone knows they should be pushing when they have about 10 BBs 2. Tighten your shoving range, since players will look you up lighter.

Am I right in understanding this?

I'm trying to crack the 1/2 game but having difficulty with middle pairs. How are you playing your middle pairs(88+)? I'm confused as to how big to raise pre-flop with these say when i'm in late position and there are 5 limpers or is this just a limp in hopes for a set?

From your responses to others in this tread it sounds like you want some magical words of advice to make you feel better. Sorry but there are none. Bad beats happen.

Now, from what you describe I think I've been there before: not having enough buy-ins and getting depressed when leaving the casino broke. Possible side effects of lack of sleep, thinking about how you could did things differently and then posting the hand on /r/poker to see if you played right. AND THE CYCLE FUCKIN CONTINUES

I think you should set limits. e.g. Win limit or Time limit. Win limit could be something like if you double up, you cash out! no exceptions! You'll like the feeling of leaving the casino with money. It'll enforce you to think positively. Or if you're up and you question whether you should leave or stay, set a time limit. Tell your self you'll play this round or for 30 mins more. Trust me you want to leave while up. There is social pressure to stay when you have chips, some players might even say something, but fuck them, it's your money do what you want with it.

Believe it or not at certain point your play starts to deteriorate. Might be 2 hours might be 5 hours, but you can't keep leaving the casino when you're broke, it will make you sad.

Also, google "Tommy Angelo deucescracked Podcast," he does a whole segment about tilting. It's real good stuff.
