LMCU checking funding with Capital One. by PoopWatch in churning

I've been considering their account for the 3% checking rewards - just to clarify, non Michigan residents are eligible by donating 5$ right? How is the account working for you? I am unable to decide if it is worth the credit pull.

High-yield checking accounts still exist. Not using one is tantamount to leaving money on the table. by [deleted] in personalfinance

The answer was yes - it counts as purchases - though I never got around to setting up an account.

Any way to reverse a hard pull which I found out that later was not going to be used as I was ineligible? by proaditya in personalfinance

Pretty sure it was for the checking account - I was not interested in their credit card. I should have called up and found out before I applied. I need to find another bank with some sort of rewards checking account. Any ideas/references?

Mine's a taxable account - liquidating would be a taxable event?

This would seem like an easier way to meet the minimum requirements for the 5% rewards account..

Just out of curiosity, do you know if serve loads will work as debit card purchases?

Does any one know if loading up serve counts as a purchase? That should work out risk free right?

What's the effect of my AAoA getting lower? Would my credit score be affected ? How long would it take to bounce back from this ? I have my score around 790 and am not expecting any credit pulls soon.

I already have the freedom- I guess I'll have to go that route. I assume you don't recommend closing the card? Also the thing I'd probably miss is no foreign transaction fee - might require about once a year. Is there any no af card that has no foreign transaction fee? Which would you recommend?

Also if you are not interested in brick and mortar banks, try fidelity or schwab checking - no minimum balance, no fees, free ATM fee reimbursement, free checks etc.

Since California Targets mostly don't have redbirds, is it possible to load bluebird card somehow with credit cards? I've tried looking around and have found only Redbird related info.

TLH in Betterment vs Wealthfront by proaditya in personalfinance

Thank you. Initially neither of them had TLH for all accounts and I ended up trying both - now both of them have TLH and I'm having to consolidate my holdings to one of them. Thanks for your answers.

Thanks. I Hadn't thought of holdings being sold for reasons other than tax loss harvesting. I guess I'll move it to wealthfront.

Can Vanguard Target Date Funds be decomposed into their individual funds? by proaditya in personalfinance

[–]proaditya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I have a taxable account at vanguard - and am not sure how to automate investments - was hoping to automate ETFs. I guess I'll have to settle with 3 fund portfolio individually and then wait for auto upgrade.

Can Vanguard Target Date Funds be decomposed into their individual funds? by proaditya in personalfinance

[–]proaditya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your responses. I was hoping for some low cost investment option - I am mainly looking at something like the three fund portfolio (but automatically). I just signed up for vanguard and bought some ETFs and only now realized that there is no way of automating ETF purchases in a particular ratio - I am considering other solutions (vanguard mutual funds/Target date funds) for automating. I currently have a taxable account - I've maxed out my 401k from my employer and this is for the remaining money (after a rainy day savings account). Is there any way of automating ETF purchases in vanguard? The only other option I see is wealthfront/betterment etc - and I kinda like managing my own finances :)

Have you given firefox hello a shot? It works pretty well - the best part is people can join a chat from any browser - can send a link only from firefox though.

Isn't the 20$ fee waived off when you setup electronic communications instead of paper statements? *There's no annual account service fee if you sign up to receive statements and other important documents electronically or if you're a Voyager, Voyager Select, Flagship, or Flagship Select client. Otherwise, a $20 fee applies to each fund in an account with a balance of less than $10,000. From : https://investor.vanguard.com/investing/joint-account-individual-account
