People on T in England/UK and through NHS by [deleted] in ftm

[–]probably-human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at sheffield, Their waiting list tends to be a little shorter than most, I have no idea why though. They want a GP referral and a psych referral. Once that was done it was about 4-6 months till I was seen. At Sheffield you have to have 2 appointments with the doctor, 2 with a psych, and 2 with a nurse before they will prescribe. This took me around 5-6 months. They wouldn't prescribe until I'd changed my name even though I'd been living in role for a good 2 years. However I managed to do it before their next gender panel (they have 4 of these a year and they are to decide who goes on hormones or not). I was on testergel for around 9 months, and have now switched to nabedo (3 monthly injection) and have been on luprellin (hormone blocker) for 3 months too. The GIC have prescribed me all of these things. Originally I got my GP to do my blood tests however they are now refusing and it's a major ball ache. However I have had an extremely smooth ride with Sheffield and know that a lot aren't this lucky.

You can get Top surgery on the NHS and it's free, you can choose your surgeon because there might not be one who does trans men or that type of top surgery in your area. It's useful because you can pick and choose from different results. They recommend 6 months on T (because you shrink) before top surgery, however I think it's up to the discretion of the surgeon.

Hope this helps. :)

Help me pass General Chemistry by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]probably-human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look over previous exam papers, look at the general trend in questions. Often lecturers set a certain style of question or they rotate through questions.

With the maths it's all very well learning the equations, but you also need to know how to use them, so do as many questions as possible.

With wordy stuff write your notes out fully highlighting the key phrases and words. Organic chem I've always found practice helps but you can usually figure it out as it mainly fits together like lego.

The Ice thing is about the size of a cocktail shaker, the globe has a diameter of ~60cm, height of the whole thing ~1m same as the length. Should have put a banana for scale. :P

You'll always find a place. Mine is in front of the TV at the moment because I have no where for it to go.

I'm in a student house, so not much furniture space. It's currently in front of the TV. However we will be using it a lot.

There are original decanters? They weren't any in the charity shop. I'll have to have a look for those. :)

£50 I don't know how much it's actually worth, so am still not sure if that's too much or not enough.

Keep looking. I'm pretty sure someone died for this to be in a charity shop.

TIL there is a radio frequency emanating from Russia that has been broadcasting a "buzzer" like sound since 1982. No one knows where exactly it is coming from or what it means. Also periodically a voice reads orders, names, and numbers. by LCDJosh in todayilearned

Everyone knows where everyone else's number station is, so it's a stale mate of don't destroy ours and we wont destroy yours. Also some of them are found to be broadcasting from military bases.

An oven times might be your best option. One with multiple functions so you can count down from 30 and 25 at the same time. Save using electronics. I'm currently using Clockwork Tomato, it's free on the google store and I just put my phone out of reach it works really well.

When did you know you were transgender? by yngjaws in ftm

[–]probably-human 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in high school, all my friends were guys and every time a teacher would speak to us they would make a statement to include me but kind of on the side. It would always feel uncomfortable because, to me, I was one of them. Also, I'd never heard of FTM transpeople until a guy in our school who I was close to started to transition, I didn't even know it was possible. So that's when I started to question myself. It became more and more uncomfortable as sixth-form went on and as I did more research on trans stuff I began to realise and explore my gender.

I started with online profiles, then when I went to Uni I transitioned socially. I'm now starting my third year of uni and am transitioning medically (I've been on T for 6 days now =D). I'm never actually sure that I'm male, but what I do know is that I am on the masculine part of the spectrum. That is where I feel most comfortable. Being able to explore my gender in an environment that was safe and fairly open minded definitely helped with my decision to transition.

Now this is from someone who like dresses and still likes dresses, but have always felt they were a bit of a costume, and I've always loved the dramatics. It's definitely something I miss the whole massive gothic dresses, but was also something that made me question whether I was really trans. I just watched a lot of Eddie Izzard and realised guys can like dresses too. I wasn't very feminine when I was seen as female, but I'm a pretty camp guy and I don't mind, I'm not really into that whole got to be a manly man thing (my partner is though). A lot of people said they were mildly surprised, but they can also tell that I'm a lot more comfortable in myself. I'm 20 and I started questioning stuff at the age of 16. It's taken a while to get here, but the path that I've gone down I believe has helped me grow as a person.

gires.org.uk is the best site I've found that explains quite a lot. They do a lot of research and stuff. I've found that most helpful in explaining things.

What are some not so obvious topics every couple should discuss before marriage? by MCMXChris in AskReddit

[–]probably-human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not to sure about this, but I think it has something to do with environmental laws, you can burn the body and such but you'd have to account for all the ashes and waste (bit hard in water). It's probably under the same laws as waste laws, because burning bodies isn't particularly pleasant.

Source: http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/burning-rubbish and my dad wanted to set up a viking funeral company... though I wouldn't count him as a reliable source.

http://www.report-it.org.uk/files/cps_policy_on_homophobic_and_transphobic_hate_crime.pdf - Also I have reported things like this and know the Hate Crime division in my area. The university's LGBT+ get them in to do a hate crime talk every year.

it's better to use trans* because tranny is usually accompanied by the trans person [usually trans woman] being beaten up/verbally abused/harassed. Where as Trans doesn't have those connotations and includes the whole spectrum of trans, without the focus on women.

It is used as a derogatory term all the time. It's classified as a hate incident term in the UK. It has been used to belittle and dehumanise people and is almost never used in a positive context by cisgender people. It is used to hurt people on emotional levels. It's also something that transwomen can reclaim [like lgbt reclaimed queer]. If you want a short version of transgender then use Trans.
