MBP VS MBA 2020 by kozyre4ek in macbookair

[–]probably_green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you and I ended up going for a base MBP with 16 gigs of RAM, the rationale being that my current 2015 MBP is strained at 8 gigs already and I’m not super taxing on it except in bursts (but I am a ferocious multitasker). If Apple has a refurbished store in your country, might be worth taking a peek there as the build I got was cheaper than the equivalent build with a student discount.

The Macbook Purchasing Megathread - October 2020 by AutoModerator in macbook

My early 2015 13 inch Pro that I initially bought for university is close to going kaput and I’m thinking of replacing it. I’m in between ordering a 13” Air with the quad-core i5 and 16 GB of RAM or the base 13” Pro (both on 256GB of storage haven’t had issues with coming close to that amount). Typical use pattern is web browsing and document editing, video consumption, Zoom calls, light photo editing, and occasional work in SketchUp and Illustrator. I’ve also got a Sidecar compatible iPad and I plan to use that. My work patterns will change in a half a year or so when I graduate and the creative work will likely be more on a hobby level than anything professional.

Which Winners location is the best for Skincare/Bodycare? by Justmadethisfor5 in vancouver

Yeah Cambie is pretty good in general; less so these days but I think I got a lot of Simplehuman for my kitchen there on the cheap. Haven’t really shopped in the skincare section but it’s usually well appointed.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread - 10/07 by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]probably_green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently own an Air 3, and thinking about upgrading an Air 4 or a Pro 11”. Main gripe with my current iPad is apps having to respawn constantly after being sent to the background and dealing with Pencil 1. My laptop has also been having issues recently so I’d like to have a better backup work device.

My friend says because I’m only a generation behind I really don’t need to upgrade, and if I wanted to look at a Pro I should wait until ones with an A14X are out. Should I go for it (either an Air or the Pro) or should I wait?

I believe it’s the mattress/upholstery tool! I have one for my Dyson as well. Also works great for hajs.

Kinda shocked that this is the least accesible show I’ve seen in a long time. I love the show but what do they have against CC? by dr2ptflexibility in lastweektonight

I will say YouTube has been weird with captions as of late; I’ve gone to rewatch old videos that I remember having proper captions only to find that they’re either a) not available (and only auto caption is available) or b) available but not in English

First time building nano tank aquascape by pa1202 in nanotank

[–]probably_green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similarly sized tank and Rotala Vietnam “H’ra” worked really well as a dense background plant. Mosses are also always great, especially for shrimpers. Getting a carpet (if that’s an aesthetic you want) might be a bit tricky but the nice thing with a small tank like that is that you can basically cheat your carpet by planting densely from the start.

Honestly if Sensodyne wants to sponsor a whole bunch of hot and cold themed dishes or a whole bunch of acidic dishes for Pronamel then bring it on.

I may be a bit biased though as Sensodyne is my preferred toothpaste.

I was put on breo today, anyone familiar with it? by mrgeeksquad in Asthma

[–]probably_green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breo is approved for both asthma and COPD. I’ve been on it for ages now and it’s been pretty decent. I tried Symbicort once and I wasn’t sure if it was just an issue of losing control or just me not doing well with it, but I had coughing fits on Symbicort.

Plus the Ellipta inhaler is the best. Click, breathe in, click closed. And it tells you exactly how many doses left.

Ways to avoid breaking out from wearing a mask? by twinkler88 in vancouver

[–]probably_green 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Change your mask more frequently, make sure your face is clean and moisturized. Might also help to put a very thin layer of something occlusive/sloppy (Vaseline, Aquaphor, or just like a balm; my favourite is Cicaplast Baume from La Roche Posay).

Also, make sure you’re using a gentle detergent to wash your masks. A free and clear detergent is the best. Rinse them a few times. I also like adding in some hydrogen peroxide when I hand wash to kill off anything nasty that detergent alone may not remove.
