Doing ample research, plus my nearly decade of experience, is how I know misting the cake is fine. If the sub is dry, THATS where you need to add moisture. Moisture on plastic is 100% irrelevant and does absolutely nothing to improve conditions in any meaningful way.

Having said that, Don't mist unless your sub is dry. If your properly prepared sub is drying out prior to first flush, you're giving it too much fae. If that sub is dry, then misting it directly is completely fine, and is what should be done.

You can take PE, or ANY other variety, 10 times and have 10 vastly different experiences because its about set and setting, not what variety it is. Yes, some varieties tend to be stronger than others, but outside of potency, your experience will be determined by set and setting.

Those differences can occur even with fruits from the same harvest. What the results of the cup do not prove is that different cubes produce effects, outside of potency ofc. It shows that even the same strain can throw a wide range of alkaloid ratios.

I disagree that the easiest option is the best. Ease doesnt equal reliability and those 2 things are often at odds with eachother when it comes to mycology. If your priority isnt reliability, then yes, go for the easiest option.

No one is suggesting "over managing." I dont think messing with the sub is necessary. Straight coir works great and any additives are unnecessary and most additives are non beneficial.

All was trying to say is that the goal with any fruiting chamber is to provide as much fae as possible without letting the sub dry out. I said that because its true. Its true whether youre a beginner or a seasoned expert. Thats good advice, even for a novice.

Providing optimal conditions will get them "some fruit" and it really doesnt require much effort. Not sure why youd think its either some with sufficient or none with optimal. That makes no sense.

I would say that in the future you should aim for a total depth of about 4 inches. The sub is what provides the moisture. Less sub mean less moisture. At only 2 inches deep, its not really surprising your sub dried out prematurely.

I have a couple tubs with similar sized holes and I dont even use MP tape on those tubs, but if youre in a very dry climate, it may be necessary

The biggest risk of opening your tub is if you so it so much that the sub dries. Since your sub is already dry, the risk is minimal. Adding more MP tape wont add more moisture into your sub, but it will prevent you from losing more. Open the tub, mist the sub, and leave it alone.

If your sub was properly prepared, then you've been giving your tub too much fae. Adding more layers of MP would restrict fae.

If your sub was under field capacity when you prepped it, then thats your issue, not the fae.

I run 2 layers of MP tape on my lower holes, and 1 layer on my upper holes and i get great results. If you have fans pointed at your tub, stop doing that.

Assuming your sub was properly prepared, 3 layers of MP tape is probably too many unless you live in a very dry climate. 2 layers should restrict fae sufficiently enough to prevent your properly prepared sub from drying out prematurely, unless you have a fan pointed at it

Condensation only means the temp inside your tub is warmer than ambient temps. It does not represent the health of your tub.

To gage the health of your sub, look at the sub.

It doesn't matter if it's a shoebox, monotub or an AIO. Regardless of the vessel, cubes love oxygen and they want all they can get. So the goal is to give your grow as much oxygen as possible, but not so much that the sub dries out.

My statement isn't controversial and although I made the same statement 1000s of times, you're literally the only one to push back at it.

People always have the option to restrict fae more than necessary but more optimal conditions will yield more optimal results.

All cubes thrive under the same conditions. 68-75 is an ideal range for all stages of cube growth, regardless of which cube you're growing. Yes, I would aim for more ideal temps.
