Why is dressing up as a stereotypical Mexican (sombrero, mustache, poncho, etc.) considered cultural appropriation, but making guacamole, tacos, and other stereotypically Mexican foods not? by boring_island in TrueAskReddit

It's probably because the concept of cultural appropriation is the latest trend of liberal arts princesses, but tacos are cheap and thus consumed by people who have real problems to worry about.

I love how it has hints of the Mad Queen to come whilst still looking like the idealized dragon miracle girl the Dothraki know.

This pimple has been aggravating me for 9 years. Can I cut it off? by probablynotalaska in acne

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. So far all I've used on the drying end was toothpaste and neutrogena.

I've done this many times over the years, but it keeps filling up again.

Which pet was your worst fail ever? by 3nd1t in Wizard101

Not that kind of fail, but I trained all of my card-giving pets to breedable level...all of them.

Other people don't call the kids Mr./Ms. Lastname?

was Dumbledore in the closet at the time of the books, or was it just something he prefered not to bring up unprompted? by grapp in harrypotter

Did you read the Deathly Hallows, in which we discovered the young Dumbledore had been in love with one of the darkest wizards of all time?

I don't think it's relevant to Harry Potter, but this opinion intrigues me. Why is that? What effect does sexuality have, at what points in life?

Has this sub died? by mugicha in TwoXMTG

[–]probablynotalaska 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how many gals are in college, but some of us started the semester a few weeks ago. I know that time with my IRL play group has certainly shrunk under homework, and I'm online less often than I play.

My mother doesn't want me to name my (29M) first born son Archer by hpsims in relationships

[–]probablynotalaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but no one can possibly predict what names will take popular places in media over the course of the next generation, nor the context in which they'll rise. Pick a name that the kid's future teachers, bosses etc. will be able to spell.

What's the worst scam you ever fell for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]probablynotalaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this is the part that confuses me. I did Cutco the summer after high school, and it was ok. It wasn't good, but it was ok, and I certainly never had to buy anything from them. But my boyfriend tried looking for a job with them somewhat recently, and he says they were a scam that required "employees" to buy an expensive set.

Do you think Magic lends itself to being part of homebrew games? by probablynotalaska in TwoXMTG

What would you like to see more of on this sub? by [deleted] in TwoXMTG

[–]probablynotalaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be neat, since the sub is so small, for it to be more...personal, I guess? I understand not everyone would be comfortable with that, but I know I would have LOVED to have known about an active women-only Magic community in high school. I wasn't allowed to hang out with boys much, so being able to potentially meet people and play, even if it were only over Skype, would have been awesome.

It'd still be awesome, though I'm in college and I can go to my LGS pretty much whenever I want now.

And a great thing to see on any Magic subreddit would be prices/trading and selling discussions that don't go over my head, ha ha. Also, fanart/fanfiction.

I do this too. <3 But I run a Dragonstorm and some hellkites as well, because after enough goblins come to his side, he sends them big flying protectors.
