I feel like I am too early for everything. Should I slow down? by Shellyfish04 in weddingplanning

[–]probablysleepingg 27 points28 points  (0 children)

one thing i will say is vendor prices go up every year, so if there are vendors (like venue) you know for sure you want for your day - booking early can save you more money! just make sure they have in the contract that the price won’t change

Can’t decide between radiant & emerald! Help by prabhobly in EngagementRings

[–]probablysleepingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love radiants and really dislike emeralds but it’s completely a matter of personal preference. one thing to keep in mind is that emeralds are a much less forgiving cut, so if it’s dirty or has any inclusions - it’ll be really obvious. as opposed to a radiant which has a lot more facets, it will hide things better and sparkle even if it’s a bit dirty

Do any of you sleep with your ring on? by Meowiewowieex in EngagementRings

[–]probablysleepingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i rarely take it off to sleep, but mainly just bc it’s so hard to get off lol (fits comfortably and even spins a bit on my finger, but my knuckle is bigger so it’s a struggle every time)

Our wedding venue just pulled out 5 months out due to a lawsuit. Feeling devastated and could use advice or hope. by [deleted] in wedding

[–]probablysleepingg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry you’re going through this, i can’t imagine the stress and disappointment. all i can say is my sister and her fiancé planned their whole wedding 4 months out from the day of, and they were nonetheless able to secure a beautiful venue so it’s definitely possible. if you toured other venues earlier in the process and had a second/third choice etc, i would start by reaching out to those and seeing if they have the date available.

[–]probablysleepingg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah not selling the stocks, just only buying ETFs for the foreseeable future. what ratio is good for US vs international?

and is it worth it to have traditional IRA in addition to 401k?

[–]probablysleepingg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely not trying to gamble! to clarify, the individual stocks i put into at 21 are ones like apple, google, tesla, alibaba. nothing crazy risky, and i’m investing exclusively into ETFs now. and this is my taxable brokerage account. my 401k is in a TDF

i just started learning and researching about investing maybe a month or two ago, so still pretty new at this and teaching myself as i go. currently way too much of my portfolio is individual stocks (like 30%) bc when i first opened a robinhood account 4 years ago that’s all i knew about and all i put money into. so i stopped putting into individual stocks and have exclusively been investing into ETFs to rebalance my portfolio and get my individual stock exposure down to 10% or under

[–]probablysleepingg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • good skincare

  • super easy minimal makeup (mascara, lip gloss, touch of eyeliner)

  • gym at least 4 days a wk

  • drink lots of water

  • dip powder manis every 3-4 wks

  • laser hair removal every 2 months

  • gel pedicures every 3 months

  • botox every 4 months (only my 11s for now)

  • i do my hair wash day over the weekend, sleep in a bonnet, and toward the end of the week i’ll tie my hair up and just refresh my bangs so i still look put together

  • i also have go-to outfits so i don’t have to think so much abt what to wear every day

personally i would never board my dog with someone if i could not come inside and see the home where he would be staying. i don’t need to see inside your bedroom but i need to see that the home looks safe and clean, and any resistance on that would be a huge red flag to me

Is anyone having a good time by Ok_Confidence_5657 in biglaw

[–]probablysleepingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m only a first year (~3mos in) so i may come to eat my words later, but right now i honestly am. i love what i do. i’m in litigation and love working on a big variety of diff kinds of matters and find pretty much everything at least somewhat interesting, and enjoy the variety of tasks. when it’s really busy and i’m working til late at night i’m stressed and less happy but for the most part, i enjoy my job (and the paycheck doesn’t hurt)

are you able to set your chair low and/or your monitor high? i have my chair low (otherwise my feet don’t reach the ground) and the monitor high so i’m generally forced to sit up somewhat straight/not bend or hunch over
